Folding Rear Seat Will Not Release

Has anyone had problems with the release mechanism on the folding rear seats? There seems to be a problem with the cable release on mine that gives me trouble trying to release and pop-up the seat on the drivers side. Honda replaced the cable, but now the seat is stuck in the UP position, which means I can't use the back seat. Any idea how to release this thing manually until I can get it to the dealer for another fix?

Sounds like your "fix" is broke. There is not much you can do to un-break it and you should go to dealer so they can re-fix the broke fix. And find another dealer if you can, this one sounds like a loser.

Similar problem on the rear right passenger seat. The handle will not release the seat to the upright position. It happened today, it had been working OK up untill today.

I can push the clip in on the floor, that holds the bar to the floor. But, the seat will not go up. There must be an internal lock that prevents the seat from going up. (Only to be released by the handle)

I will be going to the dealer tomorrow.

Follow-up.
Went to the dealer today. They have ordered new parts and will need the truck for 5 hours to rebuild the seat.
Oh well...it has to be done.

I just had this happen to me today. My rear, passenger side seat will not lift up. There isn't any tension on the release handle when I pull up on it.

Try pulling up on the seat bottom while you hold the handle out. My rear passenger side seat does work, but it does not easily release. I have to manually pull the seat bottom up out of the 'catch'. I realize my RL is under warranty and this will be addressed when I go to the dealer for my first service. There is a chance, perhaps, that the handle, cable or 'catch' hardware needs some lube.

It's totally locked down. I think the release cable fell out of the holder, so it's not pulling the cable to release the locking mechanism. It's still under warranty, so I'll run it in next week and see exactly what happened.

There have been posts about the seat cable pully breaking.

This very thing happened to me several times. I got tired of going back to the dealer every time and figured out how to "fix" it myself. The cable just falls out of the little cradle and the lock won't release. It's annoying but was never a critical problem. I wish they'd come up with a real solution.

This is crazy. It just happened to me today and I was about to start a post. My passenger side wont release to go up. I may go by the dealer tomorrow, but I really dont want to go get annoyed by these guys.

I just purchased my RTL 2007 Saturday and my driver side is doing this same thing. Stuck in the down position. Should this be covered under my Honda certified warranty? It was like this when I purchased it.

I would guess it's covered. The dealer should have checked out every function and address non-working items before 'certification'. May I suggest that you report it to the dealer immediately, and check out every other control / feature / function for proper operation.

I don't know about the Certified warranty, but mine was covered under the normal warranty a few weeks ago.

I will do first thing this morning. I already have noticed 2 buttons that the lights were out and they have agreed to fix those already.
