Rear tailgate Question?

I see two problems, that I have with the tailgate.

The first one is when I swing the tailgate open, the bottom hinge is rubbering the plastic cover, (left side) I sprayed it with silicone oil and it was good for one day. The second thing is, when I pull the handle to swing the tailgate to open and close it, I hear a metal to metal rubbering sound. I can see where the rubbering is coming from. The pin on the bottom, on the rightside (opening end) is rubbering. I think the pin or the tailgate is out of line. I have 2000 miles on the truck and going to make appointment with my service department next week.
I would like know is anyone had or have the same problems,:(

No issues with mine and owned over a year. I've also got an April 05 build which seemed to have every problem reported on this board.

So, I would take this one to the dealer. It is not normal.

There are a couple of TSBs dealing with tailgate issues.
Check this link to see if they may help with your problem.

If the symptoms of the service bulletin do not apply, is there any chance you can post a picture of where it's rubbing so I can better understand the specific problem?

Adjusting the tailgate can be tricky, but if you follow the procedures in the service bulletin or the service manual it's pretty easy (unless you loosen or remove one of the hinges from the tailgate, then it really helps to have the special alignment jig).

I don't have that problem but how do I determine what "build" I have?

Can be found inside drivers door on the frame side of the door. Lower right hand side.

My only problem with the tailgate so far is sound. When closing from the flip-down position it makes a solid thud.

But when closed from the swinging position it sounds cheap and tinny.

yes on the cheap and tinny.
I called the dealer about 2pm and was told that, this is normal operations.
B/S,
I what to the dealer to pick it up and spoke to the person that wrote me up in the morning. I said, I would like to go over the ridge with you and the mechanic. "Not problem Mr. R." He pulled the truck inside and I showed them the problems. The B/S, was the hinge side on the swing is a normal, but the bottom pin on the right on truck, has to be adjusted. but the bumper must be removed, to get to the two screws. No problems for me, just f--king do it. One day gone by. Made a new appointment for Tuesday 6/27/06.
I called back service later, when I was driving and told that I would like another mechanic, because, " I don't need a B/S man to work on my truck. and the rubbing noise on the left side bottom is not normal, It's a rubbing on the black cover on top on the swing hinge. One B/S line, was, " We checked it out on another truck and it does the samething, so it must be Normal" I looked around and I didn't see ANY truck on the lots.

I think that there is course that ALL dealer give to the service writer and the mechanics, to B/S customers.

Thanks. I will look for it in daylight in the am. I am getting an Access cover. What kind of tailgate seal should I look into? I have tried TrailSeal on the internet several times and always endup finding my elbow bones chaseing my shin bones.
