Ya'll think it's possible to wire 2 powered subwoofer to the Ridge's Sub control wires? I have one in place now (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=95588&postcount=54). I want to hide another so I'm concidering adding this (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=108491&postcount=1). Of course all comments welcome. :D

When you say control wires you mean the subwoofer speaker outputs, right?

You want to use your Kenwood and a tube? You should be able to do that because the amplifiers present a high impedance load. A better choice though would be use pre-out if available on either the Kenwood or the amp used with the tube. That means RL sub outputs --> to one sub amp --> pre-out from that amp --> to input of 2nd sub.

Hello Carlnunes, what's wrong with the Kenwood? I'm ready to install your Kenwood setup on my RL...should I be reconsidering? I'm not looking for "crazy" bass but more than the stock bass would work for me. I'm anxious to see your reply.

Oh sweet! I'll look into that and let ya'll know if I do anything. The Kenwood I have has pre-inputs no actual pre-outs listed in the manual. Will you take a look and tell me what you think? (http://www.sbcompserv.com/images/ridgeline/113KSCSW1.pdf) Page 5 section 2 may do it. Damn hofffam you's a homie! Thanks!

I love this Kenwood Powered Sub! It's a great upgrade to the stock sub (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=95588&postcount=54). Very nice over all sound with the upgraded door speakers (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=91051&postcount=7). I listen to Hip-Hop music and it's bass intensive. So I'm considering an upgrade. I'm really on the fence over the subject cause I don't just listen to Hip-Hop music. The Kenwood unit is performing VERY well. I listen to everything from country to talk radio. My friends always comment on how good the sound is in my Ridge. They assume it's the factory system. I have to let'em know it's been upgraded. DO THE KENWOOD POWERED SUBWOOFER UPGRADE! You'll love it. :D Don't forget that the door speaker upgrades are a must for overall sound improvment!

Thanks for the clarifiication. I'll tell you how things go. I'm upgrading the door speakers to some MB Quarts. I'm putting components on both the front and rear. The problem I have right now is deciding on the best place to put the highs in the rear. I may end up putting it behind the rear passenger seats...I know this is not good for the passenger but I do not carry many passengers...I could always fade everything to the front if is it a problem. Still figuring things out. Do you have any suggestions?

Well I am very happy with this upgrade (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=91051&postcount=7). Not sure about highs. I'm using the stock dash tweeters, with the Kenwood 61/2s. WOW does it sound better.

carlnunes - your Kenwood does not have pre-out connections. So you can either "split" the RL headunit sub out speaker level or choose an amp for your 2nd sub that has pre-out.

I would use pre-out on the 2nd sub.

No mod is truely complete until we've posted the results here at the ROC! After I installed the Bazooka Tube (http://www.sasbazooka.com/productAutoAmplifiedBTsBT.asp?id=236) I literally had double the bass.

Here's my post regarding the Kenwood Powered Subwoofer install (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=95588&postcount=54)

6.5" Amplified Subwoofer install details:
- Followed the example in this post (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=7787)
- I have the RTL trim so I needed to unmount and lower factory wiring to get the sub right next to the metal back wall
- I did use hofffam's advise:"split" the RL headunit sub out speaker leveland connected the speaker level inputs from both subs to the Sub output from the factory headunit
- I didn't install a remote for the Tube, with only a gain control I decided against it

Did you hook them up in series or parallel?

I don't know.
2 wires come from the HU
4 wires come from each powered subwoofer for a total of 8
So 4 wires from each sub to one wire from HU
Trial and error until it worked. Sorry I should have taken notes. hofffam could probably sort you out.

coolcat - carlnunes hooked those subs in parallel. But they are both powered subs - and the RL headunit speaker wires are connected to speaker level inputs, not speaker drivers.

The input to an amplifier has a "load" of something in the range of 10,000 ohms or more. So there should be no concern that the load is too low for the headunit.

I would not hook two unpowered subs in parallel to the RL headunit. I doubt the RL hu can handle a 2 ohm load (two 4 ohm speakers in parallel).

hofffam as you really seem to know your stuff could i just install 2 of the bazooka tubes and be done with it? seems like a easy way to add bass without all the drama of a box.

If the two tubes are POWERED tubes - you could connect both to the factory HU. The tube you linked to is NOT powered. I would not recommend two of those connected in parallel to the factory HU. I think the load would be too low and probably cause the sub amp in the HU to shut down.

You could get a separate amp with speaker level inputs and hook it to two unpowered Bazooka tubes.

I would like to add that I am still very happy with the performance and sound of my dual powered subs (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=113823&postcount=8). I have had one powered sub in the rear corner of my Silverado Extended cab. I like how the subs are now more evenly distributed across the back as opposed to base coming only from a corner of the cab. Good feeling base and great sound.
I feel compelled to add that the door speakers (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showpost.php?p=91051&postcount=7) were key in this upgrade.

im not going to use the factory head unit. im going to use a pioneer dvd head unit. I was thinking i would rather use an outside amp and make a lil box for it under the seat to keep it nice and cool. i just need to know if two of those subs will fit. I will order them asap

hmmm i was at a local radio shop today and they did have a ready made box for a 10' that will fit right under the seat perfect. The only problem was that it looked pretty small (flat) so im going to just copy that one and make it a little taller. its to bad too as it looked like a really well made box. but all this talk about air needed to push the bass has me a little more careful about what i pick out. :D
