brich 06-23-2006, 11:30 AM Let's talk about a meet atop Mt Washington in New Hampshire this summer/fall
If there's enough interest, I think this would be a great opportunity. The Mt Washington Valley is truly a beautiful place. Lot's to see and do... This could be a weekend trip for many, or it could be a day trip as well...
Vote for your preferences and we'll see if we can make this happen. Here is some info for those interested and once again, a BIG thank you to RidgeNH for another cool idea for a meet...
The Northeast's highest peak, 6,288-foot Mt. Washington, will captivate you with its remarkable views of the Presidential Range, the White Mountain National Forest and beyond. The route, the views and the magic of this mountain sanctuary have remained largely unchanged since travelers began winding their way up Mount Washington in 1861. The "Road to the Sky" was an unprecedented engineering achievement and remains the first man-made attraction in the United States! Today, it awaits your personal voyage of discovery.

A nice hotel with decent rates. I've stayed here a few times and really enjoy it. It's right next to the Shopping Outlets and not far from the Auto Road...
Google the North Conway Grand.... (feel strange posting a link for this so you'll have to find it yourself ;) )
Oznative 06-23-2006, 12:26 PM I'll bite on the idea. May be tough for some that live in southern areas. :)
ridgeNH 06-23-2006, 12:40 PM Sept 23 is bad, going to try and make this; this year.

The Bourne Scallop Festival is New England's largest festival under the big top.
• More than 40,000 visitors from all over the world come to the Bourne Scallop Festival every year.
• Winner of Cape Cod Life's "Best Festival Award".
I was planning to Camp up there, it will be off season so getting a site should be ok.
cwsatterlee 06-23-2006, 01:04 PM Great idea. Saturday's are fine with me. Won't be fighting traffic on the way home going through Boston. :D If this goes through, where will the rally point start from?

We can decide that closer to the date. We could meet in North Conway some where I figured. That way those spending the weekend won't have to travel to meet up anywhere else...
Of course some can set up rendezvous locations anywhere and come into the valley with a statement...
I'm up for any of those dates as of right now. We'll try and set a definitive date as soon as we get enough response so we can plan ahead...
My husband said he'd be up for this one - and he hasn't expressed any interest in ROC meets! We have to check our sailing schedule.
I voted for September 16/17th but August 26/27 would work as well. We are racing the other two weekends. Saturday is best for us.

Funny you say that... When I mentioned this one to my wife, she didn't say no... We go to North Conway a lot so I know she's really thinking about the shopping!! :D
I really hope we get enough of a commitment for this meet. This could be a great time...
brich 06-27-2006, 09:38 AM Ok, so the first bullet on this pole makes little sense...:o duh
Anyway, I voted my preferences and am posting to get this bumped. Need some more New Englanders showing some interest here. This could be a really cool meet... :D
ridgeNH 06-27-2006, 02:36 PM was waiting to check on any other conflicts.
Going to vote now.....
I was reading about a group that does the kangama.s...(sp) highway every year.
I think they have a lot of cars doing it now. maybe we should try for a ridge showing next year

Actually if we make it a (2) day trip the Kangamangus Highway would be an awesome trip.:)
brich 06-27-2006, 06:57 PM Heck, I just enjoy saying Kangamangus... I think I had that back in high school...Cleared right up with an ointment...
We could do the Kangamangus on the ride home after Mt Washington...
cwsatterlee 06-27-2006, 07:04 PM Sounds good about a two day trip. How many members are there in the Northeast? Maybe we ought to do a role call and see how many members turn up. Our Canadian neighbors should also be included.
Carl
Ack, I voted for the August weekend, completely forgetting my sister's wedding on the 26th! That would not be good as I am making the cake! :D
So my vote is for September 16/17th only now...
tedridge 07-09-2006, 07:24 PM This meet sounds like something I'd drive to from New Jersy. Keep me posted, thanks.

Just keep an eye to this forum and you will see. I actually voted for the September date and now the august date will work the best. Gotta keep the war commissioner happy:eek:

Actually, the August date is looking a little better for me as well... That's looking to be the most popular weekend...
Sure wish we would get a bigger response. This could be a really cool meet... I'll give it a few more days. Maybe PM a few New Englanders. Then call a date and get some commitments. Come on New England ROCers... It's just a day out of your summer. Be part of a cool climb and a great photo op.... :D
Oznative 07-11-2006, 06:50 AM Come on all you New England ROCers. As brich said (This will be a great 1 day trip.) If you wish you could make it a 2 day trip. The wife and I may make it a 2 day trip anyway. Sure it's a drive up there but it will be woth it. The views will be fantastic and the backdrop for some great photos on a sunny day are awesome. There is plenty of shopping and good places to eat at the base of the mountain. Lets do it!:D
cwsatterlee 07-12-2006, 11:32 AM So, when is the deadline going to be on if we decide to do this?

brich 07-14-2006, 07:43 AM So, when is the deadline going to be on if we decide to do this?
Let's say that on July 23, I'll take the poll and post a winning date. That will give everybody a little over 4 weeks to make plans.
This cut off is only a cut off of the poll and your opportunity to vote on a date. There will be no cut off as to when you decide to join us.
Once we set the date, I'll ask those who have said they can make that date if they still plan on attending, as well as try to round up interest from others. At this point, we can decide if we have enough participation from all who say they'll attend and if this meet will actually take place. :D
That sound ok?
Oznative 07-14-2006, 08:55 AM Sounds good to me brich. 10Q berry mulch:D
brich 07-14-2006, 10:06 AM Eeyore berry (Lawrence) Welk Uhmmm

If primer grey is so fast, it shouldn't have trouble getting to Mt. Washington... ;)
brich 07-14-2006, 12:52 PM If primer grey is so fast, it shouldn't have trouble getting to Mt. Washington... ;)
hahaha Feel free to bring your Dark Pink truck to the meet...I'm sure one of us "Primer's" will pull you to the top... :p
:D
SSquire 07-14-2006, 06:12 PM It'd be the first trip to the top that wasn't on two feet or two wheels...
Oh and depending on the timing (and my access to the site), I am hoping to be there.
brich 07-15-2006, 06:42 AM Would love to have you join us SSquire... and any other ROCers...I truly think this will be a really cool trip. I think I convinced my wife to make a weekend of it. I did mention shopping. My kids, they are begging to go on this trip... :D
brich 07-19-2006, 07:37 AM Right now we have 9 ROCers interested in the August weekend. Add myself and Oznative as 2 more interested in this date(s). That's 11 ROCers !!! That would be a ROCkin' turnout if all can make it. I suspect if 11 are serious, we may entice a few more to join us. Heck, they may have to get the Mt Washington rangers to close acces to all except the New England ROCers!!
Oznative 07-19-2006, 07:56 AM Sounds like tons of fun.:) I was at city hall last night fighting for my quality of life in my neighborhood. I ran into a guy driving a black RL in the parking lot. I had seen him driving around lately anyway. I flagged him down and had a talk with him. I gave him a ROC brochure and invited him to join the ROC. Maybe he will be interested in the climb to the clouds.
MARK SHAUGHNESSY 07-19-2006, 09:33 AM oz--i made it. met you in the city hall lot last night, thanks. mark s
brich 07-19-2006, 11:51 AM Nice !! Already sent a welcome to you Mark in another thread but will send off another one. Welcome to the 'hood...great to have another local :D
Oz, I'm glad your bringing in some new ROCers and not scaring them away... :p
What's going on in your neck of the woods? You need help with that quality of life problem? I know I'm always fighting my city hall.... Sure, they don't want anymore adult entertainment on RT1 in Peabody...Hey, I pay my taxes you know...
Kidding of course. Ya, I don't pay taxes... :p
Oznative 07-19-2006, 12:57 PM oz--i made it. met you in the city hall lot last night, thanks. mark s
I appreciate the concern brich; I’m not having any problems that a little hot lead won't solve:) Just kidding. I’ll tell you about it when I see you.
Mark, I’m glad you found the way.:) This site has a ton of information at your fingertips. Are you interested in the climb to the clouds?

That sound ok?
We have an official date!!
It looks like August 26 is the date
I will put together a few details for the meet and start a new thread. Let's Make this happen ROCers! This will be a blast! I may start cleaning my Ridge now!!! :D
Oznative 07-24-2006, 04:57 AM I sent away to the NH. chamber of commerce for information on things to do and places to stay. My wife and I plan on making it a 2-day event. I can't wait, it sounds like a ton of fun. Brich if I can help with anything let me know. :)
BannedUser 07-24-2006, 07:12 AM HIGH JACK ALERT!!!!
Now that you boys have had your fun...I'll step in and remind all of you that SILVER IS HONDA'S FAVORITE COLOR!!
Right SS? :D
Stirring the pot? ME?? Of course....:p
Thanks Z...I know you're in that list somewhere........;)
And if August 26th was not the official date, I was considering coming but it's a race day..I think. On second thought, what day ISN'T a race day??
brich 07-24-2006, 07:20 AM I sent away to the NH. chamber of commerce for information on things to do and places to stay. My wife and I plan on making it a 2-day event. I can't wait, it sounds like a ton of fun. Brich if I can help with anything let me know. :)
Hey Oz, I was planning on spending the weekend but given the fact I have a vacation the week before and a trip to Florida a couple weeks after, I may just make it a day trip myself. That could change though.
I go up there at least twice a year. We usually stay at the North Conway Grand. Nice place, clean rooms, nice indoor pool and jacuzzi. Plus, you can walk to the Settlers Green shopping outlets that are right next door.
If you enjoy a good prime rib, there's Red Parka Pub on the other side of town.
If I see you Wedenesday night I can give you some ideas for things to do...
I can't wait, should be a nice time!! :D
brich 07-24-2006, 07:32 AM Now that you boys have had your fun...I'll step in and remind all of you that SILVER IS HONDA'S FAVORITE COLOR!!
There ya go again JC..... Stating the obvious and making it seem like your proclaiming the theory of relativity.... :D
You guys have a great time! I won't be able to make it as it is wedding day for my sister (I am in charge of the decorating and the cake so would be in BIG trouble for skipping town).
If you have enough fun, maybe we'll plan another one!!
Oznative 07-24-2006, 08:58 AM Hez, I'm sorry you are busy that weekend. It will be a great time. And now on to the great JC, I really wish you could make it. I understand that people have a life beyond their RLs:eek: Did I actually say that;) I'll have a few for you and maybe one of them juicy prime rib's that brich was talking about. Silver is the color you settle for if you can't get nothin else:D
SSquire 07-26-2006, 04:50 PM Now that you boys have had your fun...I'll step in and remind all of you that SILVER IS HONDA'S FAVORITE COLOR!!
Right SS? :D
Yeah, but they also thought we wouldn't want to unlock ALL of our doors, or have a trip computer, so what do they know? ;)
