Someone around town has a new black 2007 Avalanch. It looks pretty sharp. It seems like it's a lot smaller than older versions. I'm amazed at how similar it looks to the RL. If I was shopping, I take a look at it.

I really do not like the "smoothed-out" body-style on the front. If it had the '06 style front-end, it would be a different story. Well, maybe not. When I was shopping for my Ridge, I went to a Chevy dealership just to make sure I didn't want to go that route. Talk about sticker-shock! Avalanches for $40k+. I don't think so.

I agree with the sticker shock. While I haven't priced an Avalanche, I saw a commercial the other day for a Taho LS (mid level - no leather etc.) that said prices for 4x2 started at $38k  . I guess GM is cranking up the prices since they aren't getting it in intrest because of 0% financing etc.

Even though it looks good it's still a chevrolet. If i was shopping i'd LOOK at it to. But thats the extent of it.

No GM products ever again, a few painful lessons. I am convinced the only way a dealer makes money, is when you trade that awful product back to them after 6 months! My RL is AWESOME, and I laugh out loud at the domestic guys questioning the Truck wortiness of My RL. Quick, Quiet, and loaded with features.....

I agree with you 100%. I just finished up my vacation so I am back in my company car. It is not half of the vehicle that my RL is. The seats are not that good and it squeals the tires in protest around every corner.

SupriZing they tout a NEW front end on the web site.

I was looking at the 2007 Avalanche prices and the base model (2007 Chevrolet Avalanche LS 2WD) starts at almost $32K. Nice pricing....NOT!!!

Yeah, no doubt...the RL is the way to go!

From a guy who has just switched to Honda after owning a number of "real trucks" I must say there is great benefit of owning American made cars and trucks. You can trade them in every few years and not feel guilty, when people say, "hey you bought a new car?" you can totally say yeah the truck was out of warranty and I was worried about the realiability. Totally tue, no guilt and you got a newer vehicle. Now that I am married I will just blame it on the wife wanting something new. That's what I did with the RL

It's a sacrifice we men make for certain; It has worked for me up until I bought her a new motorcycle. "What dear, you don't have a license to ride a motorcycle? Well, I'll just ride it for you until you get one."

The new Avalanche is a head turner (for a truck). While the Ridgeline's interior is nice, the revised interior of the Chevy is unbeliveably nice for a domestic. They are finally "getting it" as far as styling is concerned. However, it is still a domestic and we all know what that means.:( Also, has anybody noticed that a $40K truck still comes equipped with an antique 4 speed automatic? What's up with that??

Why are we even discussing the Ridgeline wanna be:confused:

Let's all be nice - we certainly don't want to be bad-mouthing the Avalanche on our forum the way the Avalanche folks talk down the Ridgeline on theirs.

I get this all the time: "That's some fancy (read expensive) truck ya got there fella." They look at me with disbelief when I tell them it cost less than my '03 Silverado Z-71, a lot less. But on the other hand, I do have to put up with 5-6 more miles to the gallon with the Ridge.;) Seriously, I park beside an Avalanche regularly. I am suprised at how large they are on the outside for their size on the inside, including the bed.

Maybe we should get together and start a thread on the avalanche site with pics of our RL's:D

I owned a new 2003 AV. in 2003.Triple black with all options cept sunroof.I just didn't like it.Got about 14mpg average it had no pulling power and the closed narrow bed was useless. The cladding always looked bad and it listed for $42000.The blind spot was worse than the Ridges the interior was better than the Ridge. It probably weighed much more than the Ridge.I would take the Ridge over the Avalanche today because of the trunk, the tailgate and the resale.Besides it costs $10,000 less. But the non auto lights and no DRL's irk me.If your going to leave lights on and keys in the ignish park outside cause with a dead battery I could not get it out of park.Glad I had a charger.
