Center Console not locking

Hi guys and gals,

This is actually the second thing wrong with my navi equipped ridge.

The center console, that has the cup holders, will not stay in place. It is the part that can slide in and out making more or less storage. The mechanism that you can press is stuck open and will not keep the damn thing still. It slides open when I come to a stop and it shuts closed when I start driving.

I also have the dreaded windnoise/whistle.... I have posted on that subject in the other wind noise threads.....

My local honda stealership has ordered me a new center console and they won't give me a loaner while it is fixed......Now that sucks. I need to get to work..How big of a stink should I make about that?...

Oh well...

You had better make a BIG stink. Any repairs you have done on that vehicle is under warranty and Honda pays for your loaner. Go back there and demand a loaner.

Everyone else that has taken their RL for any work has received either a rental at Honda's expense or a Lot car. Did you talk to the Service Manager? Is there another dealer in your area?

As for how big a stink. Call American Honda, report your issue, and tell them that your dealer won't spring for a loaner. You'll probably get a call back from the dealership explaining that it was a misunderstanding and they will have a car for you.

Honda takes customer service very seriously and any bad mark on a dealership is reviewed by regional management. Enough negative marks and Corporate steps in to figure out the issue.

Is it going in all the way, I found I mine that it only seems to lock full in, and perhaps full out( have not tested that yet), but yes I also found that with 2 bottles of water, when only out a bit, it shots forward under braking.

They are with out a doubt obligated to give you a loaner for any warrenty repairs. Next time ask for their boss and keep going up the ladder until you get one. Be Strong.

I went to another stealership, the one I bought it from, Los Gatos Honda and they gave me a car without hesitation.

They even said they'd pull the part off, center console, of one of their trucks if they couldn't get the part.

The sad news is that my truck will get a new windshield for the wind noise. I proved to their master tech where the leak was with tape over the area....

I'll keep you posted

Sorry, I have been gone for so long.... :o

My windshield was replaced, noise gone, yeah!

Now, that creaky steering wheel is bothering me...I thought I'd let it slide, but now I just don't know. I called my dealership with the TSB from other posts and they readily admitted needing "wool felt tape." I'm sure I can fix it myself, if the fix they need involves tape....

I just had the dealer fix my creaky steering wheel today. Handed him a copy of the TSB and he appreciated it, or at least seemed to. It's quiet now. Said it was the first Ridgeline they'd had in for that problem. Guess they had all the required tape.
