: Airbag deployment
shadow2079 07-13-2006, 01:00 AM Hey, I was doing some research before purchasing my 06 EX-L w/navi and I found this video. It seems to be an isolated incident, but I figured if anyone would care to know about it its the people here.

Also I noticed some other threads ripping on the warranty service offered by Honda. I have to say that this is my 4th Honda purchase in the last 3 years, and I've had numerous warranty services completed. Several of them were for issues that were caused by others, for instance I had an aftermarket alarm installed and the geniuses damaged the steering column cover. I inquired at my dealership about the cost to have it replaced, and they just replaced it under warranty. I also had a civic that was struck in a parking lot shortly after I took possession, again contacted the dealership to find out about the minor repairs, they put it through as pre-possession damage, no questions asked.
I think what someone said about the dealerships charging more to Honda Canada than they would charge to me is true, its why they're so helpful in these situations.

mugen1 07-13-2006, 11:06 AM hreads ripping on the warranty service offered by Honda. Thanks, for bringing this up, shadow2079. I have had nothing but great service from Honda. Sales department, not so much, but service has always been a good experience. I've often wondered if it was a regional thing. In any case, for every bad story, there seems to be a tonne more positive ones.
BTW, I hear more negatives about Honda here, in this forum, than anywhere else, but I think it is because people can say whatever they want. Also, there have been a lot of trolls on here lately -- people who log in once to tell a fake story to get attention. Some posters here remind me of the soccer players and teams I watched during the world cup. What a bunch of liars, whiners, poor sports, and losers. No honour -- the world owes them everything.
Anyway, that video was one of those stories that got a lot of attention in the auto world. I don't think it put that much of a black eye on Ridgelines. I think it backfired on the person who presented the video -- in my eyes, he lost some credibility. Anyway, just my opinion and thoughts.
You'll find that this place is great for information on our Ridgelines. Many knowledgeable and helpful people. Welcome...
chisoxjim 07-13-2006, 11:18 AM mugen,
well put,
I often wonder why others here are so negative about Honda, and why some of the members here cannot/will not see through the bogus posts, and in turn encourage the trolls, and then attack others on here who actuall own, and love their RL, ... . Seems the trolls get what they want, to dis the RL, and to turn RL owners against each other.,
Its pretty obvious to me who is legit, and who is not...
I have tried to ignore the questionable posts, and stick to vanilla topics, my yard, gas prices, pets, etc... But some things I read here are just so outrageous I have to speak up.
shadow2079 07-14-2006, 10:32 AM Actually after I posted that last night I watched the same guy's ridgeline review.
http://www.theonlinecarshow.com/Honda-Ridgeline-Lo.html
Overall its very positive, and doesn't mention the airbag thing despite the fact that it happened during the filming of this review. His worst criticism of the RL is that its "too clever for its own good." I think this was an isolated incident, but from what I've seen of it the reviewer was very fair and factual in his presentation. Airbags can be a very dangerous thing, this should be taken very seriously by both reviewers and by Honda.
