I am not sure of the best place to post this question. I started it on the rack and hitch board, but their doesn't seem to be much activity there.
I am in the process of installing my rack, and my question is about cutting the original mouldings into the small pieces that the instructions describe. I understand the measurements and their method, but just how accurate do you have to be when cutting these pieces?
Due to the curved shape of the mouldings on the front, and also the very end of the moulding has got a curve to it , when I go to measure up for the first cut, it is difficult to tell where to hook the tape measure. Do I just hook it in the center of the end and try to measure around the curve part as best as I can?
I can get different readings based on how I hold the tape and where I place the tip. Am I being to fussy? They are calling for cuts right to the millimeter, and it is easy to get different readings based on how you hold the tape measure.
Thanks, Eric
