: rattle in passenger door
ShootinDownTheStars 07-13-2006, 07:49 PM Ok....has nayone else experienced this.
I have a rattle in my passenger door that litterally sounds like there is something rolling around in the map pocket, but when I go to hit the door and see if anyting is loose, there is nothing. NOTHING. I even took off the door panel and thereis nothing loose in the door.
I usually don't hear it as I tend to test thelimits of the speakers in the Ridge on a regular basis, but wen someone else is the car,it is so loud it is almsot embarassing!!!!
NKyRidge 07-13-2006, 08:57 PM nope - only rattle would be the right front tweeter thing.
and.. the windows when they are rolled down about 1/2 way - but just the rear ones... :(
jwizard 07-14-2006, 04:16 AM Do you only hear it when the windows are open and you are wothout passengars? If yes, it is the buckle on the passebgar side seat belt which dangles between the seat and the column and thrashes about in the wind.
Oznative 07-14-2006, 04:40 AM SDTS, It's funny that you mentioned that. I myself never noticed it but my wife did when she was closing the door. It sounds similar to a ball bearing in a soup can. I'm thinking maybe a bolt or clip has come loose. I'll have it looked into.
vortmax 07-14-2006, 08:49 AM I have the same BB rolling sound in the drivers door. When I went in to get the door handle TSB completed I asked Honda techs to check the noise since I thought it was inside the door panel. There was nothing behind the door panel and the service tech said the "BB" is in the rocker panel. They sent me to a body shop where they shot some foam into the rocker panel in an attempt to trap the pesky noise maker. Well apparently there are two channels in the rocker panel and the body shop only had enough foam for one of the channels (guess which one they picked?). The body shop said to bring the truck back and they would shoot some more foam in the other channel. I haven't been back so I still have the rolling sound and can't confirm that the fix they are proposing would even work.
85 bulldog 07-16-2006, 09:26 AM i've got the rattle in the door(driver side). it only rattles when window is not fully up or down. it's not the seat belt, because it doesn't matter what speed i'm driving w/ the window lowered. it has to be something in the door!
ShootinDownTheStars 07-18-2006, 08:21 AM definitely not the seat belt. I get that one too.
Thanks for the help....geuss I have to go get some "foam".
4Truku 12-05-2006, 07:39 AM I've got a similar rattle on the passenger door side. I think it may be the outside handle assemblies, because when I pull the outside handle and release it (let it snap back) it makes a similar rattle to what I hear when I am driving on a bumpy road.
Anyone else notice this too?
BillB 12-05-2006, 02:19 PM I got the mystery noise also in the passenger front door area and some of the noise was the seat belt tapping against the pillar. I now keep that belt buckled (mostly I am driving alone to work); however, I still have some less noisy noise that is definitely still coming from the passenger door. I think it might be the window rattling in the frame in my case.
I have the same noise on the right front door also. I have had my vehicle about 2 months and i can hear rattles/knocking/creaking sounds from all over.
This is pretty pathetic – my last vehicle (ford expeditions) was 8 years old and I did a lot of off-roading in Moab and other gnarly places and never had any of these sounds.
I am sure this has been addressed in other threads; the overall quality/fit/finish on ridgeline is sub-standard.
HAWAIIRL 12-14-2006, 10:31 PM Here's another one with a rattle from the passenger side door/seat area. Can't find it while driving needing to pay attention to the road. I am going to look for it this weekend though.
MikeT 12-14-2006, 10:44 PM I had a similar noise to what y'all are describing. For my truck, it turned out to be the sun visors rattling the clips when the visor was pulled down (In order to shade the eyes from the sun). Mine would not make any noise in the up position, but down, it drove me nuts until I found it. Let me know if this is the issue for any of you.
bogie1 12-15-2006, 08:57 AM Well I must be blind and deaf as I haven't noticed any quality issues, nor have I had any rattles. I'm hesitant to even take mine out of the garage after reading some of these comments.
cer0z 12-16-2006, 07:12 AM i have this rattle too it sounds like its comming from the passenger door but i found where mine is comming from...the dash on the righ side seems to have a little play and moves a small amount feels like only 1 loose clip that is rattling if i push on the dash above the glove box (its not the glove box rattle either it does it with the box open too) the rattle stops but it very much sounds like its comming from the door when im driving anyone else want to try this and see if they get the same result
