I originally posted this in the "Tires and Wheels" forum, but maybe it's more appropriate here, so here goes;

I went ahead and bought these (http://www.ridgelineownersclub.com/forums/showthread.php?t=6614) wheels and tires from gixer03. They look good on my truck, and I can't find anything wrong with them, but I'm having a persistant problem with a shimmy in my front end. It feels kinda like wheel balance, but comes and goes. It's usually there between 45 and 70 mph or so, and sometimes it doesn't shimmy at all. Also, the vibration seems to vary when I move the steering wheel from side to side.
I've had the wheels balanced twice, by two different tire dealers. I also took it to Honda to see if there was a problem with the suspension. A tech took ride with me (he drove) and he said it didn't really feel like balance to him either. So they put it on the rack and torqued everything and all (with the suspension) seemed well.
The service guy was mystified, and so am I. He said the problem could be that these are aftermarket tires. I doubt that, but I'm here for the opinions of other owners who have put aftermarket tires on their Ridges.
I'm open to suggestions.

just a thought if one of the wheels/tires might have water or fix-a-flat in one of them, that would explain the variance in intensity of the vibration. also if the rims you have are low profile they are subjet to more road feelling vibrations, but im shure thats not it. i suggest to take it back to where you had them balance last and balance them again and when the do make shure the spin them more than once to see if the asking whieght is the same or different, if it comes up different each time there would be water or other foriegn matter inside the tire.

You know, I didn't even think of something inside the tire. Especially something liquid or semi-liquid.
After I brought the tires home I took it all to a tire shop to have them install the TPM's, and rebalance everything.
I'll take the truck to a tire specialist who cares about their rep and have them work it out. Now all I have to do is find one locally.

You might check with the manufacturer of these rims and see if they require the use of hubcentric rings with these rims on a RL.

That does it. I'm going to a store who deals with custom wheels and knows what they're doing.
The guy I bought the wheels from pointed to something inside the hubs and mentioned that they were important. Had to be the rings you mentioned.
I'll have them take a look when I go in.
