Finally got my Leer Cap installed. It is awsome. :D The place I bought it from said it was the first installed. He took pictures. I stoped by the dealership and chased down my sales person since I was missing a black cover for my rack. He said he has never seen one.

Can you post it where you don't have to register? I'd like to see it, but not that much.

Here is a link to the Leer web site that shows the Cap.

How well does your cap's rear glass seal to the rubber on the sides of the cap and at the tailgate. Mine has a gap and lets quite a bit of dust in on dirt roads. Need to try to adjust, but have not done so yet.

yeah. we have seen the stock pic before.

but would be great to see it on your RL post pics here too

The rubber connected to the glass meets fine with the tailgate. The only problem I have noticed is if your sitting with your back to the cab rear window, looking out of the cap back window, on both side of the tailgate there is a gap where you see daylight. I don't think there is anything to do about it but stick a rag in the gaps to keep the dust out of a dirt road.

I think it looks great!

you didn't want the roof rack that comes with the Leer top also?

I have been trying to find a picture of a leer with the roof rack (on both) I guess this is the closest that I will find.

How tough is it to see out of at night? in general?

thanks,

I like it.
How secure is it?
Do the windows open?
Can I ask how much?

cwsatterlee

It is very secure. It is bolted down with the tie down clips in the bed. Very secure and the top of the cap is lined with a carpet type material. Cost in RI was $1625.00 less $70.00 coupon from Leer. Yes the window open with a turn know and there is a screen inside. Windows come tinted dark. I did not get the rack on top of the cap since I have one on the truck. I have seen the black cap by leer, and my red. Are there any other colors out there? There are other options with the cap from leer that you can pay extra for like remote locking system and so forth. www.leer.com has all the information and I believe you can also track down a Leer representative in your area.

I have a feeling if you live south of the mason dixon line the cap is probably cheaper. Let me know. Not too many dealers in my area.

I checked with our local Leer in Edmonds WA, $1699, installed.
How much visibility did you loose?

cwsatterlee
07-19-2006, 05:08 AM
No difference in the visibilty. When I purchased the vehicle I had a time trying to get adjusted to the blind spots on both sides of the truck. I put those 2" round mirrors on each outside mirror prior to the cap being installed.

since i have a snapfish account i was able to log in and view them. I'm sure the oringinal poster does not mind me doing this since he gave the link to the ROC boards. Nice cap!! Saw one at a local dealership on a Black Ridge.

i don't like the fact they use the tie downs to secure it in the rear. Can't tell if that is the way they do the front of the cap

My mom taught me not to buy a $30K vehicle and make it look stupid. The Ridgeline has a great look and is set apart from all the rest...why spoil it? That cap looks as ridiculous as the Lambo doors that someone else posted on here. Give me a break!

Why is it that some ROC members need to jump in & post negative stuff about what another member is doing with there truck. How about some courtesy, like " It's not for me, but good luck ". I find some members to be downright rude. YUCK!!

For the same reason an F150 or Silverado owner doesn't buy an Expedition or a Yukon. Versatility. You can't take the top off an Suv and throw in a load of firewood or load up a quad. The cap gives you more dry, secure space when you need it. I'd like to get one myself.

Welcome to the world, unfortunately for thin-skinned individuals such as yourself it is full of people's opinions...good and bad.

These boards should be filled with REAL opinions, not a continuous parade of empty praises. I don't like it, that's my opinion. It is my opinion that it looks stupid. If you don't then good for you, post your opinion.

If people posting don't want critizism, then they should not post picture after picture of all the modifications they have made to their Ridgeline. Not everyone will like the modifications because everyone is different.

THE CAP LOOKS RIDICULOUS. I'm venomadness and I approve this message!

Please take into consideration what "type" of people are posting here.

My input is......."no i do not like the cap myself" but to each their own. This is the REAL world with REAL A$$holes living in it. You just have to take them with a grain of salt, sort them out and ignore them. You know who they are.

If you like the cap, great!!!! But there is no need for bashing people for having different opinions than your own. Constructive criticism is good. (key word being "constructive")

This has really been fun watching the responses. The thing I enjoy about this site is the adults that enjoy their toy and enjoy spending money on what they want.

For the comments, money talks and B. S. walks. Too each their own on how they want to spend their money. On this site I saw a black RTL with the same cap. I though some would enjoy seeing a redrock with a cap. As time goes on it will interesting to see what other colors appear.

The comment "my mom taught me not to buy a $30K vehicle and make it stupid", my mom would not have taught me that because I did not pay $30K for my RTL.

So all is well, enjoy your toy, and when you out grow it move on to another site.:D

Good for you, neither did I. It was a general figure, because a RL is closer to $30K than $20K. If someone is willing to pay this much money for a truck...they can obviously do whatever they want to it.

Again, my point, if you are going to post the pictures of a RL that is out of the ordinary...expect critics. Most people on here are so proud of their truck that they cannot imagine what someone else would find wrong with it. You could plate your RL in solid gold and some joker would tell you that it isn't work sh!t.

Seriously...come on.

As time goes on it will interesting to see what other colors appear.

I saw a steel blue RL with same colored Leer this weekend. This was on I94 between the Twin Cities and Madison, WI (sorry, I don't remember exactly where but probably about 1/2 way?). My camera was in the trunk or I would have snapped a pic.

I'm not a cap guy but it sure looked sharp! I didn't even realize it was a RL at first, but my wife pointed it out right away. Women have a knack for that I guess. :) If I ever change my mind about a cap, this will be the one I splurge on. Is it easily removable should the need arise? I would probably leave it on 99% of the time.

If anyone ever sees a black RL with a black Leer, please post a pic!

:)

It was in my driveway... Got it yesterday:cool:

Pictures to follow (dirty pictures since they said not to wash it for 90 days).

I like the way it looks. Personnally though.....I would sooooooo miss the rear window feature!!!!! One of my favorite things to do is drive around with the rear window down and the moonroof open. I live in the Bay Area, so 70-80 degree days are extremely common and are great "window weather".

I thought a lot abuot doing this to my truck.....but I just can't give up the window.

And I can say that he cap looks a lot better in person than in the pictures. At least IMO it sure does.

Still get the advantage of the rear window. The windows on the cap open and air flows through. I can still feel the draft come through.

Looks fine and suits the person great. Wouldnt want to hose deer blood, dirt and so on out of the back of an SUV. You dont like it - you dont need to. Freedom of speach does not mean there should not be filters. Doesnt give you the right to make people feal their choice sucks. May not be yours but it really does not matter.

If anyone is thinking about a Leer cap, there is still a $70.00 coupon on- line at www.leer.com (http://www.leer.com). I've had mine now for two months and have no complaints. I've been through the car wash and rain storms, still no leaks.

Cwsatterlee, I’m not particularly fond of these caps at all. However I do like the way yours looks. It’s not for me but just the same it’s nice. This is called constructive criticism. I can’t believe the rudeness of some of the people on this website. There is a difference between constructive and destructive criticism. Please keep in mind that the majority of people aren’t rude and tasteless.:)

Hey Oz,

Gotta love this site. The nice things is I could care less what anybody thinks about the cap. Personnal opinion on all options for the Ridgline. I enjoy seeing how everyone else enjoys their toy and how they spend their dollars:D .

Any way, it's nice to be different and I look forward to meeting the group that show up in North Conway for the Mt. Washington run.:)

venom,

I say let them do what they want with their RL's, just think it makes the ones without the caps/mods look that much better...
