If you would indulge me...I'm getting real close to buying another truck.
It's between the Nissan Frontier and Ridgeline but leaning more toward the Honda. ( I've been lurking here for awhile and got lots of good info.)
I thought the "deal" on the Honda wasn't bad , until reading some here ?
The truck is an '06 RT, no adds. He showed me an "invoice" sheet that put the vehicle down from 28250 to 25488 ( + TTT). That's the "number". There's no trade in.
My question is ; "is he still sitting on $2000 back from the Factory" ? I've seen some of the prices here and most are about 2000 off the amount I was quoted.
I'm not sure where the "special APR" falls in ?

Does this sound high at "year end" ? In addition he has virtually no '06's. ( he got this one from another Dlr.

Any comments appreciated.
Thanks, VTX

According to Edmunds.com the invoice on that truck is $24,927, plus there is destination. They are not offering the $2,000 rebate right now. The month is almost over so I may hold out and see what they do in August.

The only thing they are offering right now is 2.9% financing on 24 and 36 months and 4.9% on 60 months.

I don't ever recall Honda offering rebates as a marketing tool. There is currently a $2K manufacturer-dealer incentive on '06 RL's. Along with the RL being a low demand vehicle, this is why RT's are currently going for $22-23K before TTL.

There is a $2000 dealer incentive (not a rebate) on all remaining new 2006's.

For an RT a fair price right now would be $23,488 including destination. Some dealers will go a little lower by going into their holdback money, others will be higher.

The dealer is under no obligation to sell the vehicle below MSRP, nor are they obligated to pass on any of the $2000 incentive to you.

There have never been any factory rebates on the Ridgeline.

newbie question - what does TTL stand for?

newbie question - what does TTL stand for?

TTL = Taxes, Title, and License fees.

Keep in mind that these are normally state legislated fees. Some states have a DOC fee, but most of the time you see "DOC Fee" on a sales order it's nothing but extra dealer profit.

Never, never, never pay any fees that are not government legislated.

It's my policy to WALK OUT when any dealer shows a DOC Fee on a sales order. My state has no such fee, and when I see it I know I'm at a dealer with low moral character.

There are outright dealer scams too... some examples include paint sealant, fabric guard, VIN etching, and undercoating.

So the answer would be to do this. I worked in car sales in the past. The sales slip they gave you with the price $25,488, go back to the dealer. Take that slip, cross out $25,488 and write down $23,488, draw an X and a line across and sign your name. The salesman will go to the manager if the manager can do it he will and the salesman should come out to shake your hand and say "we got a deal". Go lower if you want, I read a thread someone bought an 06 RT yesterday for $22,500.

Thanks for the responses folks.
I kinda suspected there was a grand or 2 left in there.
I'm going to look at the '06 tomorrow afternoon but I don't know if I hold much hope for any "great" deals. It 's not that kind of place. They all seem ( at this location) , "if you want it fine if not that's fine too". 'Guess I don't fault them for that; we should all be so lucky....
Thanks again for the good info.

They all seem ( at this location) , "if you want it fine if not that's fine too". Man I miss buying cars via the showroom/salesperson/sales manager/general manager game :D . Hint let the dealers compete for your business and the price will hit rock bottom with hardly any effort on your part.

you should be able to get them lower than $25,400. I purchased back in January, Silver RT for $24,700 Tax, title, and license included.

With the 2007's out the deals should just get better..

you have to be willing to walk away from a dealers "best" deal if its not what you want to pay. luckily I have 6 Honda dealerships that i could have bought from, and i let the first dealer know that. FIrst dealer came with the price i wanted, and I bough it.

How I look at it, an Ridgeline RT for under $25,000,.... the RT is the best deal of any vehicle on the market for that price.

good luck with the purchase..
