I too am planning to purchase a Ridgeline ('07 RTL offered at $30,490) and have a few options to add.... roof rack, moon roof visor, rear flaps.
The dealer gave me a copy of thier dealer installed option prices and indicated it was a standard Honda price sheet for dealer installed options....
Accessories @ INSTALLED PRICE:
- back up sensors = 739.00
- tow "PKG" = 672.50
- roof rack = 404.00
- fog = 582.00
- brush = 519.00
- grill359.00
- bed ext = 409.00

This, however, i feel may be my last negotiation process attempted with the deal offered at 300 over invoice. I may start by asking for the options to be included n/c, then at 50% off or at least at cost without installation costs. From reading some other threads this may be difficult due to (if i understood correctly) Honda seperates their sales and service budgets therefore the sales department can not easily approve options at no cost or no installation cost etc. when it effects a sepearate departments budget... or so they would like you to believe

I will be eager to know what others have experienced with obtaining option discouts.

Take a look here (http://www.handa-accessories.com/ridgeline.html). This is what you can get the accessories for from an online Honda dealer, but installation would be extra. This would be a good point to start negotiations though.

If you really want to know what each individual dealer will charge you for a part and/or the part including installation, (in most cases it includes a 5% discount), use Honda's owners link... you can sign up here....

There is a catch.... you must own a RL since it requires the VIN.... https://www.ahm-ownerlink.com/login.asp?brand=honda

swampler... I guess I did not read carefully...... thanks..... When I bought my RL I used the various online Honda parts stores to get an idea what I would have to pay for the parts since I knew they really would not budge on their installation hourly rates....

thanks guys...

so when u price up a ridge with add-ons i guess u just get the best deal on the truck and then tack on the add-ons less 5% dealer discount?? good ballpark??

i even called the service dept as if i had a ridge and wanted them to do install etc and they gave me
tow pkg 800 incl parts&labor
back up sensor 864 incl parts&labor

so what u guys are showing seems about right

Two different profit centers.........true....sort of.

Here is how it works, and you have to try to figure out how your dealer does it.

It is one profit center to two people....the General Manager and the Owner/Corp. That's it.

Parts gets a cost from HOnda on the accessories. They mark up this cost to make a profit, obviously. They also mark up this cost to provide a "cost" to the sales department for any accessories that they may sell at time of purchase. Then Sales Departments, in most dealerships, mark up this cost to the consumer to try to provide some more profit.

However...anytime that you actually buy accessories, they will sell them at "cost" because if you change your mind, they do not have to refund any profit. Soooooo......work your deal on the truck...GET THAT PRICE....then work your deal on your accessories. NEVER work a deal with the truck "including" accessories...you lose control of what you are paying for what.

As others have noted......MOST of these accessories are incredibly easy to put on. If you do not have to "finance" the accessories, the best thing you can do, is buy the truck, then go online, get some prices on the accessories, and then either buy them from there, or take in those prices to your Honda Parts Department and see how close they can get to matching your prices. Just keep in mind.....a lot of the "online stores" make profit back up in shipping so it "looks" like you are paying less for the accessories.

But if you ever want to know why Salespeople do not offer accessories very often if at all, it's cause there really is no profit in them to them and they make no money doing it, so why try. :o

This dealer has pretty good prices on accessories, If you are up to doing some of your own installations. You can find a lot of tips, and step by step instructions including pics of a lot of accessories installed by the members of this forum.
