Just want to start out by saying I still love my Ridgeline but....

1. Had a hand sized foggy part on the rear drivers side door. Was told by the dealer that it likely was wet sanded and not buffed. How it got through quality control and the dealer to me without being seen is disappointing.

2. My CD player skips in the middle area of about 20% of my CDs (factory only - I dont used burnt CDs). I explained the problem very well and they told me it would be no problem to get looked at. I waited until my first oil change as I live about 25 minutes away from the dealer. After the oil change they said they never found any problem with the CD player. I asked them what they did they said they played it for about 5-10 minutes and nothing. I went out and saw they listened to the 1st song! I took the guy out and played song 6 and very soon after it skipped. He told me that I would have to bring it back when they could take more time on it.

I already took a half day off work and now they want me to bring it back - another half day off work.

ARG!

On the plus side they sent me over to a body shop and fixed the paint blem. Its blue so you know it looks good - just wish the sound system worked as good as she looks.

Sometimes, my CD player will stop in the middle of the disc for no apparent reason. It won't resume playing, and I have to switch the CD. When I go back to the CD where it stopped, it's fine. It has done that a couple of times. So far, it hasn't bugged me enough to take it in, but it's interesting that others have problems with the CD player, too.

I have the same problem. Not all CD's. Just somewhere in the middle of the track, middle of the CD it goes silent. If I change modes and back it picks right up and plays.

They are redoing the highway the dealer is on. It was fairly dusty when I picked it up. It would not have shown well or at all due to the dust. They did wax it for me before the pick up so they should have seen it. I noticed it the next day when I washed it.

Pretty close to the same thing I deal with. I can travel over 500 kms in a day and go through various radio areas ... so the CD player is a nice thing to listen to. But when I am in the middle of a song that I am into and it cuts out it really drives me nuts.

What kind of music is it? Cuz if it's rap, it may just be part of the song... :p

Sorry to make light of your problem.... ;)

My 6-disc changer was doing the same thing, but also would default to a "disc error" message. Started on CD=1, then CD=2, then CD=3 during the Spring. As summer came along and the weather got much warmer the whole thing started going south. You could pull one of the CDs out and it would be almost untouchble, it was so hot. Long story short. The CD player was defective and the dealer replaced it under warranty.

That is what I am going to be pushing for on my next visit. I don't want to play around with a rebuild either. Call me picky but I feal my first visit was a waste of my time.

Just one other suggestion here, certain CD players will scratch discs, usually in a similar spot on each disc. There is a possibility that your RL CD player is doing this for some reason, or that you've played the CD's in another player that did it, check the CD's carefully for any scratches, even small ones.

I've had no problems with my CD player, and it also plays a couple of CD's without skipping that did skip in my CR-V. I'm told that the better the CD player, the less likely it is to skip even when there is a scratch, these CD's are scratched, and are not factory CD's.

Thursday I put in one CD in the morning and it skipped from song 4-6. It is currently my favorite CD so I tried it in on the way home (after a 400km run) and it only skipped a little on the 4th song. The skipping is not consistant and it does not happen on my home players (that are not high end).

I was looking forward to Friday as I had an appointment at the dealer to get it replaced. I got there and THEY DID NOT HAVE A CD PLAYER IN STOCK. I was told they needed to do a diagnostic on the CD player and send it to Honda before they could even get one shipped. This was after I was told on the phone to make sure I left myself an hour to make sure they had time to replace the player - and they were not going to try to repair it.

My questions were:
1. Why wasn't this done on my first visit?
2. What do they do for a diagnostic?
3. Why would they not have one in stock?

They danced around the first two questions then told me that Honda will not let them ship a CD player - even to sell to a customer for cash - without the diagnostic. Sounds crazy to me - but what do I know. I may just have to find another dealer to take the Ridge into.

My girl friend and I have had lots of issues with this as well. As others have said it skips on brand new store bought CD's. We believe the problem is over heating as you will find if you hold the cd out the window for a few seconds while driving and put it back in and its cool it will play just fine (atleast ours do) So there must be a QC issue with over heating of the factory cd player.:(

I personaly cant wait to put an aftermarket system in my Ridge anyway especially since I am currently in MECP training and will be done in 3 weeks!!!

Well third time in to get the CD player replaced and they ordered the wrong colour! ARRRRRRRRRRRRG.

They said they are getting the right coloured one from a dealer in Toronto. This makes there story about not being able to order one and keep it in stock less then credible.

Well fourth time in and I finally got the CD player changed. Actually played a CD from front to back without it skipping. Man that calms the nerves. Just wish it didnt take three extra trips to the dealer to get fixed.

This seems to be an intermittent problem (until this gradually becomes more permanent). Same problem with factory CD players in the 2007 model (LX in Canada). They're remplacing mine this week.

A buddy of mine also experienced the same problem (same model and year) with his a few months ago. Funny thing is that Honda seems to be ignoring this and wishes to remain blind facing the CD player issues. Considering all the unhappy threads on factory made CD players, Honda should be listening to his/her customers rather than his suppliers.

A word of advice, if you're experiencing any problems with skipping CDs ... don't play them anymore and replace the player ASAP. Honda technicians are not allowed to remove CDs from the player once removed from your vehicule. CDs have to be removed from the manufacturer and mailed to the dealer and this could take up to a few months and cost a few bucks as well for shipping.

I had similar CD skipping issues with my unit and my fix was to remove each CD, wipe it down and re-install. FYI, there were traces of condensation on the discs as I was cleaning them which, I presumed was the key problem to the skipping.

Your dealer should possess a Test CD which is inserted into the unit and can diagnose the system. There are three in the set that can properly test your system. Chances are that your dealer has none of these (Not surprising to any of us). Give the dealer these part numbers so that he can order them and have them ready next time you drop in.

1) Diagnostics CD, Part No.07AAZ-SDBA100
2) Skip Test CD, Part No.07AAZ-SDBA200 (ABEX-TCD-725B)
3) Skip Test CD, Part No.07AAZ-SDBA300 (ABEX-TCD-721)

My '07 RT (with 800 miles) does the same thing. Approx. the 5th song into the disc the skipping starts for most of that song. Then it's ok again. Doesn't matter about the disc. It does it with old ones, brand new out of the package, or whatever. Temperature doesn't matter, 50 or 80, sun or shade, driving or sitting still. There are no error messages displayed. Never had a CD player do this before. I'm thinking these are not very high quality players. The dealer is a 100 mile round trip, so I don't know when I can get there. I hope I don't get jacked around like fishinbugdude. Honda should address this issue.

Same thing here. Just that mine started skipping on the forth song. Finally had it replaced this afternoon and is now working fine ... but until when? Since it was the same model that was installed. Just like what Avenger said, no error messages or any particular conditions that made these CDs skip at around the forth song for each of these occurences ... and no, the dealer did not have a test CD for problem detection. My problem kept getting worse until that I simply "Powered off" my unit where the disk was skipping and brought it in so that a technician be able to witness the problem.

Best of luck on having your unit replaced.
