SpartanML 08-09-2006, 02:06 PM We are about to purchase an Acura MDX with all the works, steel blue. Be the second Honda related vehicle in the family in over 20 years. Just wanted to see what the general thoughts/impression of the car are here on the group. I personally love everything about it, would be nice if it had xenon's but you can't win em all. I am very excited to get this car. Replaces a very reliable 2003 Lincoln Aviator (we planned on getting another one but they have ceased production  ) When we get it next week I will be prepared to take pics of it next to the ridge! :D
del518 08-09-2006, 04:28 PM We have an 03 MDX and love it. It was my primary vehicle, before we got a 06 Ridgeline in July. We traded in my wife's 04 Acura TSX for the Ridgeline.
So, now I drive the Ridgeline and my wife drives the MDX.
I will admit... that I made (somewhat) of an impulse buy. Don't get me wrong, I love the Ridgeline....but I did buy the RT model. So, needless to say I do miss the moonroof, homelink, steering wheel radio controls, heated seats, climate control, leather, CD changer, etc. etc.
My wife warned me that I would miss those little things. I don't mind admitting that my wife was right.
I will wait another month or two, before I tell her that we should upgrade to an 07 RTL.
Anyway, I love the MDX, never had any problems with it at all.
UglyTruckling 08-09-2006, 06:54 PM We owned a 2002 MDX, put almost 80,000 miles on it over three years, and then traded it in for the Ridgeline. It did everything we wanted and more, and was as smooth riding an SUV as you'll ever find. And it was a great traveling vehicle -- we took it on two 7,000 mile road trips while we had it, and appreciated it all the more after each trip. Not to mention it's a very good looking vehicle.
We had some trouble -- a transmission recall, a bad EGR valve, warped brake rotors, and a mysterious whistling noise (really, really loud and persisitent) near the end that sealed that particular MDX's fate -- but despite all that we loved it more than any other vehicle we'd ever owned before it.
If not for the call of the Ridgeline's versatility, we would have traded the old MDX on a newer model MDX. I'm very envious -- I think with a Ridgeline AND an MDX, you'll have the perfect combination of vehicles!
Kepeli 08-09-2006, 07:33 PM I would hold off on the MDX and wait for the RDX to hit the showrooms. I think it is due out later this month or in September?
It will be Acura's first turbo engine. If you are going to get the Nav in your vehicle the RDX will have the NavTraffic in the Nav unit showing you the traffic jams, congested areas or if traffic is moving normal.
I think it is worth the extra one month wait to check out before buying the MDX.

The entire Acura line requires premium fuel but that wouldn't stop me from buying one.

I'm with you... MDX is a great vehicle, but while shopping, found that Honda offers about the only regular burning SUV.
Nissan, Toyota.. they all burn premium.
Not sure on domestics, but I would rather buy Fred Flintstones foot powered vehicle, than ever again take the way to many service calls and the tremendous loss from buying and paying for Poor management from the Local yocco's. Did you know that every ford you buy, $1,000.00 goes for benefits for employees and exec padded bonus.. No thanks. Need to start padding my own bank account and that's why I'm a Honda convert and loving every second of it!
off soapbox ;)

The RDX's are out already, they had 3 on the lot, we decided against test driving as it doesnt fit our families needs and what not. We need something that will be good in the snow, ok on the gas, and kit haul more people. the RDX was a bea'ut but we opted against it. Just didn't fit in.

Yes, premium fuel was a bummer, but on our 2002 MDX, we consistently got 22/23 mpg, so it didn't hurt all that much. :)

Dealer told me the 2007 will have HID's, better MPG, and is it 300HP? Told him let me know when they offer a truck.

That horsepower is courtesy of the new 3.7 liter that will find it's way into the Ridgeline (with a few less HP). Hopefully we'll see this engine in the '08's.

We're looking at the MDX too. Right now the soon to be wife has a 05 Civic which we love mainly b/c of the MPG. Although you can probably get a great deal on an 06 MDX I would wait a few more months for the re-designed 07 MDX. We will probably have to wait til after the wedding to start looking but we need something bigger. ONly thing I don't like about the MDX is low towing capacity at 3500/4500 lbs trailer/boat

You can check out the MDX Concept.

The problem is the lease is up on the 27th of August, we don't have a whole lot of time left to get a car. The 07' sounds nice but we will just have to get the 06' and deck it out. Plus the deal is pretty hard to pass up.
