You know, the one that says something like "use caution while driving , blah blah blah" that comes on as soon as you start the truck? It's annoying as hell. I know there's a way to hack the navi unit to get rid of it, and actually replace it with your own image. A friend of mine did this on a new Acura TL which i believe has the same navi unit as the RTL. Has anyone tinkered with this? I'd really like to get rid of that annoying startup screen

What about your friend, won't he do it for you? I am not positive but there might be a thread on this.

There has been a lot of discussion on this in other threads. Do a search to find out how some claim they have defeated this function. I will include a link to instructions. I personally have not done this and I am not promoting it either. Good luck.

jesus, I didn't realize it was so involved. I'm not exactly computer savy. As for my friend.....well let's just say I don't want anyone touching my truck's navi that has no experience w/ the ridgeline. It may or may not be the same unit and until i'm sure, i'm not about to be a guinea pig.

I also did a search and didn't come back w/ the thread you listed. I"m not a noob to message boards and know how frustrating it is when noobs ask questions that have been covered over and over. I would've thought searching NAVI STARTUP SCREEN would've produced that thread but it didnt. Oh well. Thanks for the link.

That opening screen is also refered to as the flash screen or splash screen and searching either term may yield some results. This is the Ridgeline forum. Your supposed to think outside the box... :D

For me, the effort to just hit the OK button on the blue screen is so much easier than the thought of possibly F'in up my navi that I'm fine living with the blus screen... :)

I hear ya on that one. It'd be nice to get rid of it at the same time. Coming from someone that's modded LOTS of cars, this isn't something I wanna mess with. It's just stupid that honda made it that way. How many reminders do we need to drive safely? It makes me feel like it was designed for 16 yr. olds who just got their licenses.

I don't have a Navi (unfortunately) but I think http://www.kptechnologies.com has a module that will automatically send the acknowledge to the Navi. I noticed it on their website when I was looking at the window roll-up module (which worked fine for me BTW).

I haven't tried a navi mod yet, and will have to consider it once I get my laptop with burner. After doing my research it appears that if your mod was unsuccessful and included only programming changes to the splash screen and possibly the nag screen with no physical changes to the system then you should be able to revert to the factory programming by simply disconnecting the battery for 30 seconds, then restarting the system with the factory DVD installed. This would reboot the system and have it reload the programming directly from the factory DVD.

With all of the directions I've read, there are no changes being made to the DVD, simply an additional disc is being made to upload the images that are wanted. That factory DVD can always be reloaded into the system the same as an update DVD from the factory is loaded in. Those update DVD's don't simply contain updated maps, they are actual program updates that contain the navigation program as well as the maps. The operating system is a version of Windows, and will remain on the navi hardware no matter what changes are made.

Of course I'm only speaking from my own experience with computers, and not having actually tried any of this, so I can't make any promises, but hopefully this might set someone's mind at ease. Also in all the threads I've read about these mods, no one has said they tried it and messed up their system, simply that it worked, or that it didn't and they were still trying. I think if you follow the directions specifically, and aren't completely computer illiterate then you should have no problems.
