Ordered the Curt hitch( from Hitch Source on e-bay) for$110 +21 s&h,after reading the good reviews here. Couldn't be happier, was at my door 30 hours after I orded. FEDX managed to bust open the nice box they use to ship, but everything seems OK, we'll see after I get it under the RIDGE. Already did the Honda (HandA) harness, so this weekend will be set If you need a hitch I would highly recommend this.

A word of caution...do not tighten any of the bolts until you have the complete hitch where it should go. I had a problem with one side not reaching the holes and had to take it to a mechanic. He put it up in the lift, then it was much easier to align the holes. Also, remember that you have two different size bolts. The smaller bolts go on the center. The hitch is almost completely cover, the only thing you see is the center.

Wow! You did awesome btcruzr, I just recently paid 40 bucks more from Summit but the good news is there was no apparent damage from shipping to the box when I got it. I’ve read that the mounting ends are easily bent if the box shows signs of rough handling. I used a floor jack and started to two bolts in the center first and then bolted the three outer bolts on each side before the final torque wrench settings were applied. It went on so smoothly unlike most aftermarket items. We are super happy with the way this unit tucks under the truck and it seems very well made. ROC-on…

I just got the "Receiver Hitch Step" last weekend and it also fits & works way better than expected.

Question for you guys with the Curt hitch. How did you mount the exhaust? Did you have any issues since the Curt hitch has a relocated hanger? Just wondering before I order one.

Thanks!

Hi CDale, You can slip a small foot long piece 3/4" diameter water pipe over the upper hanger welded to the underside of the bed and slowly bend it down towards the muffler about an inch or so and the OEM rubber will fit just like new.

UPDATE: Installed the Curt hitch Thurs. PM. Had to take it off twice because even tho it appeared fine, it was bent, at least the holes didn't line up. Not too bad, just enough to pi$$ me off. I didn't want to beat on it, so I used one of my 60" cabinet clamp/ spreader. Worked like a charm (2nd time - not quite enough the 1st try.) Even with this little set-back,I still like this hitch better than the other aftermarket ones. Out of view, beautiful finish- that's why I didn't beat on it, and great price. In reguard the muffler hanger, I just GENTLY bent the body hanger down, didn't even crack the paint. Now it's time to get the $77 XM renewal. Thanks to all for the great info. on this site

SIGH.

To all those folks looking to buy a hitch please consider OEM Honda. You truck and your time are worth an extra $100.

I just paid $230.00 for the OEM hitch. I believe the Ebay Curt deal is $131.00.

Wow! You paid more money for the one that hangs down and appears more of an after thought than the CURT hitch we bought! Brilliant! :D

Right!! ...and I didn't have to bend it to fit, rig up the exhaust hanger, or even try to zip tie the wiring harness to the receiver.

Awesome!! :D

Did the ebay hitch thing this evening myself. Had to take it down after trying to do both sides at the same time. Decided to do passenger side first, and had to pry the driver's side, but no issues there, then the center bolts were a piece of cake.
Still not totally happy with the passenger side though. Cranked down on the bolts, but they were so close to the bend that they were not flush to the surface of the hitch mount. Pretty close, and VERY tight.
Good enough for me since the hitch is not for towing but for a bed extender for hauling wood...Harbor Freight has em. Also, a good place to mount and protect the backup camera.
Total time about 45 minutes (most of the time spent looking for a 20mm or 3/4 inch socket).
Total spent $138.

This post has me scratching my head. It saddens you that people are buying the less expensive hitch for their trucks? Why?

Why would you possibly care what other folks are doing with their money? Do you work for Honda?
