I have been looking for something like this to put in my ridge, but there is one problem. The size is to big 49" can't do it has to be 36". remenber we have the open gate that swings out and the opening handle is on the right hand side making it difficult for the 49" LED they offer.

Hmm... You got a close-up on your gate or another ridgeline gate you can post?

The gap is 55-1/2” long and the bottom tapers up at a 20° angle. My brother has one on his Ford Ranger and it works great. If it helps keep knuckle-heads from rear ending you, it’s priceless!! How does the strip mount?

Jason, I'd like to have one of these on my RL. I looked into Line of Fire as well, but couldn't find the right length to fit the RL. I checked with other manufacturers of similar products and found the same problem. Line of Fire seems to have a solid reputation, so I was hoping they would produce one as more RLs were on the road. I have not seen them for the RL as of yet. Please let us know if you come across a solution. Thanks.

This is a universal application, and comes in 49" and 60" lengths.

If 5S Dude says it's 55", then the 49 would work perfect, and you just center it. The pic of the titan, is the 60" and the titan gate is 64" long and you just center it. It can mount with 3m tape right to the gate if you want.

Ron, hmm, i've notice that you still don't have plates on you truck..what's up. your wife mentioned about it from the last meet, are u still sticking to that logic? I wish i can do the same, but know to many deputies that will ticket me if i don't put mine on :D

I actually bought a 49" "Line of Fire" LED bar about 3 months ago from Stylin Concepts, there is no way this "universal aplicaiton" will work on the ridgeline, I had to return it (it arrived with 3 dead LED's anyway). I considered custom mounting this into the plastic cap on the tailgate "escalade style" but that would be a very custom aplicaiton. It's a shame that this product won't work because it looks damn cool!!

I saw these lights on an Avalanche lastnight, it looked sharp. He had them under the tailgate and also on those slanted side panels that lead to the bed.

Basically cut off the l-bracket, sand it smooth, and get 3M automotive tape or silcone in four area (divided the line of fire into five equal segments) and stick it on the top of bumper.

I called the tech # that Jason was kind enough to provide me with and asked some questions. The man I spoke with said there was no immediate plan to produce a Line of Fire tailgate light for the RL. He said that he installs these all the time on boat trailers and simply cuts them to size. He said he RTVs (I assume RTV is some sort of silicone type sealant/gel.) the end that he cuts and they work fine. I am going to order a 60" from Jason and give it a go.

The pics of the 49" Line of Fire on the RLs that others have posted look great; I just want to see if I can make the 60" mod so there are no gaps. I put a pond in the yard this summer and have neglected the RL, so I need a little project to occupy my obsessive nature.

Snapshot, could you post a pic of what it looks like durring the day as far as when you open the tailgate? Im just trying to figure out how clean it looks as I plan to "show" my car... Thanks!!

And with regards to just cutting them to size... i would contact the manufacturer before you do that, I would be worried about shorting the bar (or the opposite) and rendering it useless. There are probably specific points where you may be able to get away with it... It may sound stupid but i have some pretty smart friends that have done stuff like that...

ChrisM,

the backup sensors are from Poron website

http://www.poronusa.com/index1.htm

will get you some picture of signal mirror tomorrow.

Pug,

in Hawaii each year you need to get your vechile saftey checked. So the 7 is the month at you have to get it done in; middle sticker is that you passed inspection; and the far right sticker is for modification done to vechile (lifted and rims changes)

My line of fire came today! :D Plugged it into the hitch plug and set it in place. Looked great. Hopefully the weather will cooperate and I can do the install this weekend.

Toying with the idea of hooking it up so that it doesn't come on with the running lights. That way it will have maximum impact  when the break lights come on.

No instructions came with the lights. I think the manufacture assumes your just going to plug them in like you would trailer lights.

I am assuming that I'll be able to figure out which plug is the running light by using jumpers.

The plan may change once I think about it more................or my wife changes my mind.

Found a trailer wiring diagram on the web. Looks like the plug next to the ground plug provides the power for the low light. So I think having the led strip light up only on breaks or turn signal is very doable.

The wires are not very big, so I would be concerned about how they will hold up if I use the power plug. Have to stick my head under the back end to find the proper place to wire it in.

I already have mine installed and looking good. I set mine up to only light up with the break and turn signal lights.

Other than cutting off the 90° strip, the install was easy, but I took the easy way and plugged it into the trailer light plug, then made it less obvious by wrapping the plug and wires with eletrical tape.

Blu Ox, any chance of posting some pics of the finished product? Also, did you already have the wiring harness installed, or is there a connection I could tap into as I do not have the trailer wiring harness. Although I am considering installing the wiring.

I already had the wiring harness installed. If you look back to post 23 you can get an idea of how snapshot wired his.

I'm working on a bike rack for in the bed of the truck this weekend. I'll get pictures when I get that done. But check back up the thread, I believe snapshot has pictures of his install.

Hey Blu Ox did you install yours onto the bumper or onto the metal lip under the tailgate/bed? I have the 49" and it appears that it will fit without any problems on the metal lip under the tailgate/bed but I like the looks of yours and wanted to see where you mounted it.

Thanks

A few months ago when Fire & Ice lights were not available, I found a 49" L.E.D. Breaklights w/ indicators by RAMPAGE. Total cost was $38.00.
The first one was stolen off the Ridgeline in two weeks. Bought a 2nd one and bolted it to the frame of the Ridge.
It only works as BREAK LIGHTS,TURN SIGNALS, AND ER LIGHTS.
The 49" set fits perfectly and centered on the back plate below the lid of the popup trunk lid.

Hey guys,
Can anyone direct me on how to properly wire this LED strip with back-up light (white lightning)?
I'm initially just thinking about hooking into the 4 pin connector... I've got the trailer wiring package. I've read about the old vs new harness and I'm a noobie to all this towing jargon. Can someone explain to me (in simple terms) how to find out if I have the old or new harness and is there a way to simply hook into the round wiring connector? I'm assuming that's the 7pin connector that's being cussed and discussed!
I can hard wire the back up light wire into the back up lights of the RL if needed. Just wondering if there's an easier way someone has figured out.
TIA,
tscdc

Mine are not "Line of Fire, but they fit without any cutting. I bought mine on ebay, from a guy locally. The first one he sold me didn't work, so he gave me three more. One didn't work for the turn signal, the other two worked fine, so I put one on my Ridge, the other's going on my son's 81 civic wagon when I get done rebuilding it.

You have to move the light bar away from the trunk lid a little bit. If you butt the lights up against it, you won't be able to drop the tailgate down. If you just attached it by tape, you should be able to pry it up and move it.
