Re: Windshield chipping (3rd windshield with only 9K on truck)

I do lots of highway driving. I replaced my windscreen a month ago because four filled chips, one giant crack, and ....well suffice it to say I planned my routes to avoid driving into any lights. The entire surface was pitted. Two days after new screen...chip...ha ha ha. Life is funny sometimes.
But seriously I found both the paint and the glass to be a bit too brittle.

Guys, don't worry, it isn't just the Ridgeline with "thin glass." My Tundra had it too, and I had several chips in it before I traded it in. I think it is a glass epidemic.

Only if you purchased glass coverage.

Re: Windshield chipping (3rd windshield with only 9K on truck)

I have had the same problem. Mine was only after 3 weeks of owning the truck. I had a glass repair man try to fix it but it still shows. I am worried that it will start cracking again and I will have to buy a new windshield which cost a lot. I hope honda will look at these post and do something about the windshield. Like I said after 3 week and maybe 400 miles all on paved roads. I must also say how much I love the truck just bummed about the crack.

Interesting about the windshield chips. I noticed a very small chip in my Ridgeline as I took delivery two months ago. The dealer gave me a signed receipt promising to replace it. When I bring it in for my first oil change I'll probably get it replaced. Here in Arizona cracked windshields are very common. I don't know if mine is due to some "defect" or just part of the southwest "way of life".

If your roads up in your part of Phoenix are anything like mine, it is a "way of life" as you put it. I had them all over the front of my Tundra and MANY all over the windshield. I expect it is only a matter of time before I see them on my green truck. Better get some touchup paint and start practicing my skills... sigh...

To all who have a chip in the windshield:

Shoudn't you have the chip repaired? I'm told it will keep it from getting worse and cracking, therefore preventing the need for a replacement.

Re: Windshield chipping (3rd windshield with only 9K on truck)

I have had my chip since about Novemeber, and it has not gotten any larger.

I am just waiting until the weather warms up to hopefully guarantee a good seal since alot of glass repair companies I have dealt with come out and do the replacement in the parking lot while I am at work.

Re: Windshield chipping (3rd windshield with only 9K on truck)

During my first month of ownership I received a chip. Insurance fixed it for free. Now 34K no problems.
