Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

Pug, I'm pretty sure my button is completely recessed. Maybe this changed with later build dates? (My build date is 6/05). It's so recessed, in fact, that I often forget that it's there, and try to instead turn the end of the control towards me (which makes the wipers do a quick swipe) thinking that will turn on the fluid. I've actually gone several hours thinking I had no fluid left before realizing I'd been doing the wrong thing to make it come out!

BTW, I also turn on the wipers when I'm trying to turn on my headlights, still... my old Accord had the lights where the RL's wipers are... and so does the Insight... going back and forth between the Insight and the RL is so confusing! I'm in the Insight grabbing the wiper control thinking I'm going to be putting it in gear (it has a stick lever on the floor), and searching around the floor to my left looking to release the parking brake (luckily I haven't released the hood yet)... it's pretty pathetic, when you think about it...

That's funny, Flymuck. I do the same thing when I get in my wife's Camry. I've been thinking, though, that the truck is perfect for left-handed people, like me. Most things are on the left side of the wheel after I put it in Drive.

To add to that, dont do it when your wife is getting in either,Man that pisses her off.

Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

I've yet to do this, but my previous vehicle had a very similar placement and I learned to keep clear of it.

Maybe *that's* what's wrong with the design... it was meant for south-paws, who make up only 10% of the population! LOL...

Actually, I don't mind the design -- it's just that we need our wipers so rarely here in SoCal that I manage to forget, from one use to the next, how to use them... Of course nothing can be done about my inability to go from one car to the other without looking for handles, controls, and other things in the wrong place...

Talking Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

The "sauce" button as I call it, is recessed a bit. I haven't hit it by accident yet, unlike hitting the cargo light button with my knee. Talk about confusing though, my wife's car is an Odyssey. The lights are where the wipers should be, the shifter is where the radio should be, everything is automatic... it's a wonder I make it out of the driveway without pushing a combination of buttons and switches to turn the thing into a hovercraft and float away, or activate the ejection seat.

Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

I go back and forth between the Civic and RL and I am ALWAYS hitting the wrong buttons on the Ridge. I am still not used to the wipers being where the light switch is supposed to be after 8 months. And I have always just hooked my fnger on the end of the "light switch" to turn on my blinkers, so now, everytime I change lanes I squirt my windows!

Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

I feel ya, Hez. I have a 1990 Civic, a 1996 Accord, and the Ridgie and it always takes an adjustment period to switch cars. Meanwhile, blinkers, headlights, and wipers are turned on inadvertently, especially when the spouse is with me.

Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

The button is recessed on mine as well, either this was a build date thing, or a difference between the CDN and US versions. I have however had the same problem as everyone else, trying to turn the lights on or off and getting the wipers. Honda should have realized that most of their vehicle buyers would be previous Honda owners and kept the controls similar.
