Lightbulb Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

I did a quick search and didn't see this mentioned anywhere, so I'm wondering if I'm the only one having a problem with the "windshield squirter" button.
Three times, so far, when I've reached for the turn signal lever, to either activate the turn signal or high beams, I've touched the button on the end of the lever causing a stream of fluid to spray my windshield directly in front of my field of view.
This is not only annoying, but I think it could be a safety hazard.
Couldn't the button on the end of the lever be recessed a bit to keep this from happening so easily?
It doesn't seem like it would take much to correct this "design flaw".
Even if it takes replacing every RL's lever, I think this problem should be addressed.
Have any other RL drivers in the forum had this happen to them, or has my "left-handed accuracy" started to decline?

Nope....haven't had the problem you mentioned. But one thing I did learn....don't hit the windshield wash button when you are moving and the sunroof is open......

Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

My worst habits were from the ole Accord reaching for the center console to shift ... and .... turning the washers on instead of the lights!!
Never hit the washer button yet...
Don't worry habits will change and you will get used to the new locations of all the switches levers and buttons.
Hey cd how about this Wisconnie weather... finally got to open the sunroof today!! Works great opening the roof and back window to let the WARM air through!!

No I have never done that.

Then again ... I thought those who said they turned on their lights with their knee when getting out of their truck were wacko until I did it a few times. Now I'm more careful getting in and out of my truck. I also try not to close the door by pulling on the front door rubber weather stripping ... lest I rip it.

Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

good thing that i was driving german vehicles before my RL, Most of the controls in the RL is similar to German Vehicles i.e. turning on headlights & windshield wipers switchs and nobs. First time i drove my RL, thinking i'm in a Honda and tried to turn the headlights on...wipers came on so think german and everything is fine.

Re: Please recess the "Monkey Pisser" button.

After almost 10 months, I still forget now and then and try to turn on the headlights and turn on the wiper blades instead -- left over control memory from our ex-MDX. I almost wish I would accidentally push on the fluid when I do this, so I wouldn't be dragging the wiper blades across a dry, dirty windshield. Gotta wonder how long it's gonna take me to work this out of my system....

I've hit it a couple of times out of habit wanting to set the cruise control (that's where GM puts it).

I don't know if I'll ever get used to having a stream of water obstructing my view, but I may get a little less surprised by it. The button sticks out about an eighth of an inch, and if I so much as brush it with my finger, it gushes like a blushin' bride on her wedding night.

I may have the service dept. give it a look-see next time I'm there, just to see if'n they can do something about the "oversensitivity". Or maybe I should use it more so the contacts wear down a bit... I dunno. It IS more an annoyance at this point, than a safety issue.

LadyRidge, does yours stick out as far as mine, and do you think it will get less sensitive if I play with it more?
