Lower low gear

Way back when I first got my truck I commented in the forum that I would like a low gear range. Since then I've pretty much decided it would be a waste in general until I started parking my travel trailer under its new roof. The 18 ft trailer is well within the Ridgeline's rated towing capacity and it handles it well on the road. Where I run into trouble is backing up my steep gravel drive in 4WD while pushing the trailer into a difficult maneuver to get it under the cover. In the process the light that I hoped never to see has come on twice - the transmission over heat indicator.

Now this may seem kind of silly to want a lower gear for this one maneuver in my yard but it indicates to me that my early concerns about "what might happen out there in the back woods" might be fairly realistic.

Sooooooo ..... my dream future Ridgeline comes with either a low range or a "granny" gear (a very low first gear common in older trucks for you youngsters) and a lower reverse gear.

Thumbs up Re: Lower low gear

A lower gear would also be nice for those of us that like to slowly crawl over obstacles to get out to our favorite spots. I find that even first gear is too fast for negotiating the occasional giant pot hole you come across on those dirt roads that lead out to the middle of nowhere.
