I can't speak for the others on the road... It is easily oxidized. I had polished the cover for those pictures. I do not plan on up keeping the shine

Nothing wrong with flat black or a silver paint to keep it looking sharp.

In the beginning of this process I was thinking with going with plywood and colored matched line-x. When I went for the aluminum, it crossed my mind to use sheet metal and have it painted to match. Maybe on my next RL...

I didn't think about oxidization. It would need a clear coat to keep it pretty. Or maybe powder coat black.

I found a polish at home depot next to the aluminum truck bed toolboxes.

If I were to go to a RL meet, maybe I would spiff it up a little...

I bet waxing after polishing would help.

The polished I used leaves behind some type of wax. I noticed during this mornings rain, the water beaded, where as when I first got the diamond plate the water just puddled.

Nice job! I'm wondering the weight and any mpg gains?

Thanks,

Re: Homemade Tonneau... Just for the Winter.

All the work in here is great, here's what I did.I know longer have the Ridge as I bought a NBS Silverado with a short bed.I purchased an undercover topper for $600 but here's the kicker.

I have a small tent that fits on the tonneau and I sleep in it when doing car shows. If you can do this on the Ridge it would give you a tonneau and a tent for a few bucks more.
