Driving Light Wiring Problems

Has anyone installed driving lights on the Canadian model Ridgeline. I have installed a set of Hella FF50s and several shops have attempted to wire them with no success. I want the lights to operate with the high beams and be disabled by a dash mounted switch. Because the Canadian model has DRLs operating on the high beams there seems to be difficulty getting this configuration to work following the instrauctions with the Hella lamps.

Thunder, why don't you try using the Honda OEM fog light harness kit that comes with it's own switch, relay, fuse and operates when your headlights are on?

You can download the instructions for this kit here:

BTW, how's Thunder Bay airport these days? Did they ever get a chance extending the runway for the bigger jets to land w/o slamming on the brakes on touch-down?

Our company did some consulting work for Bombardier's train plant there.

Re: Driving Light Wiring Problems

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem with the factory fog light harness (other than cost) is that the fog lights operate when the low beams are on while I need the driving lights to operate with the high beams (thus the conflict with the DRLs).

I'm relatively new to Thunder Bay so I don't know the history of the airport. Most of the flights in here are 737s or smaller.

The installation instructions also come with a wiring diagram. I'm sure you can reroute power to the fog light circuit via the high beam light circuit instead.

Re: Driving Light Wiring Problems

All that you should have to do is wire a trigger circuit with a relay that is energized when the high beams are on that uses the headlight wire as the triggering unit. Then put a loop from that circuit in through the firewall with a switch. When the low beams come on, your fog lights will go out. Problem solved.
