Re: Tailgate open left side or right side?

I think the answer lies in the old quotation; "is the tank half full or half empty". Or could it be "6 of one or 1/2 dozen of the other"? In other words I could care less!

Re: Tailgate open left side or right side?

From a safety perspective, definitely on the right. It's a reflex action to step towards the side as you open it; I'd hate to do that to the left into traffic when you're parked by the curb

My thoughts exactly. Keep my big butt out of the traffic.

Re: Tailgate open left side or right side?

I'm just happy that the tailgate swings and that there is a trunk... I guess people are just never happy. Honda should have made it open in all directions. Up, down, left, and right.... Then again someone would find fault and would want it to automatically slide down into the bumper.....

I don't know... I was looking forward to Biometric Molecular Displacement, so I can reach through it, but the cargo is stopped. I refuse to settle for anything less! Except... for my current Ridge... which doesn't have BMD... yet.

Re: Tailgate open left side or right side?

When I started this poll, it was more to do with kicking the tires and seeing what people thought about their tailgate opening left or right. Some people read way to much into it or got confused with their lefts and rights. The best answer to date and completely satifies my need for ergonomics and design was not to put the opening on the left so your butt would not be out in traffic when parallel parked. That alone shows someone was thinking at Honda.

Re: Tailgate open left side or right side?

hinged left is safer when your parked on the street because it shields you from traffic
