Removing fender flares?

has anyone removed fender flares? Is it safe to do this?

It is easy to do but the mudflaps are not interchangeable so they cannot be put back on.

The flares are held on with 3m double sides tape and 2 easy inserts on the fender - the easy inserts break off the flares rather easily so if you intend to put them back on you will have to engineer your own fix to re-attach the inserts back onto the flares and apply new 3m tape. My drivers rear flare was put on cockeyed by the dealer and I fixed it myself. Took longer to remove the old 3m tape than anything else. I used black duct tape to reattach the easy inserts. 3 years latter and they still are attached.
you can go to the H&A website and download the instructions to install the flares - removal is the opposite.
