Aaagghh - New Honda Grilles

....In very short words, my expression in regards to the artistic direction in which Honda is heading with their new tacky chrome-like grilles.

I feel that they are truly steering away from their tried and tested signature grille that has served them well for so many years. I've included a few pics of Honda grilles (Old & New) as well as BMW grilles (Old & New) used simply as a reference to their own signature "kidney" grilles.

Your comments, as always, are welcome...

I take extreme exception to your use of the word "artistic".

I'm not sure even "autistic" would cover it.

Re: Aaagghh - New Honda Grilles

It will boost the aftermarket grille business. Some aftermarket company will come out with "the look" that it needs.

Re: Aaagghh - New Honda Grilles

I would consider the '09 grill to be "tacky"!! I have never been a fan of the original RL grill. The standard RTX grill is by far the best looking and enhances the look much more than the basic RL grill!!

Unhappy Re: Aaagghh - New Honda Grilles

I can't say that I'll buy another Ridgeline when and if I ever wear this one out. I don't like the direction that the styling is heading.
I don't understand why Honda won't use some of the design que's from the Acura brand?
Take the the Accord for instance, it has a bland boring look about it. To me it looks like a Kia or the dreaded lifeless Mitsubishi.
The Acura's are sleek muscular looking vehicle.

Re: Aaagghh - New Honda Grilles

Well, I will act as the exception here. I like the new grills. It seems the trend is to emphasize the front end styling of vehicles by capturing the buyers attention to the grills. I think it is an improvement.

Just my opinion and it does not mean your opinion is invalid, so don't flame me.

Re: Aaagghh - New Honda Grilles

Certainly not my taste (looks too "chunky") and I'll take the current RTX grille any day over this.

When I traded for my '08 I asked them about switching out the grills. Seems like it was about $300 for the RTX type grill plus labor and no allowance for the RTL grill. That sucked! To say the least I did not get the RTX grill!!

Re: Aaagghh - New Honda Grilles

Too chunky for me,

I swapped out my RTX grille for the RTL grill.
I don't like chrome and the RTX has a chrome edge which just looks like Sh**....

You violated two modifications rules
Modifications Rule #3: get what you want as you'll regret not doing so.
Modifications Rule #12: don't cheap out on mods.

Now every time you look at your truck, it has a huge pimple on it's nose as that's not what you want
