Re: Rolbak Tonneau Cover

Jumped on the train here too. I have just orded mine and can't wait.. Like many of you I have been searching high and low for a solution. I leased my truck, so the thought of the OEM Tonneau by Honda just didn't justify the cost nor did a CAP and the other tonneau covers I saw or read about reduced to much of the in-bed trunk access or again required a lot of drilling.

I will be interested in comparing stories once I install mine.

SB Ridge.

Re: Rolbak Tonneau Cover

Hey, I was there first!
Actually, that's cool. We can compare notes, although the install looks pretty simple.
I was thinking; a tailgate lock might be a pretty good idea. Not only to protect contents, but because the BAKflip itself would be pretty easy to rip-off.

I tried to order the Bakflip from them, but it just jumps back to "select your vehicle below for custom pricing". I don't know what I'm doing wrong.

Also from the email that Mugen1 got, it seems like they are saying that you have to remove the top tie down brackets to put the rail system on, and that the first panel at the cab does not open. So I guess it will be about eleven inches from the rear window.

Question: Does Ridgeline BAKFlip fold up and out of the way towards the cab of the truck?
Answer: Absolutely. To make the handling of the cover easier from the outside of the truck, the first “installation” panel (the first panel right behind the cab of the truck that does not open) comes back to meet the exact point where the gradient of the body meets the side rail (The “V” point and the front sides of the bed). This placement allows you to open the cover all the way open from the side of the truck without having to get into the bed of the truck!

In the case of the Ridgeline, the cover does not come in contact with the back glass/rear cab of the truck. The folded cover does not come in contact with the Ridgeline in any way. Instead, the cover is being pushed towards the cab slightly by the hydraulic struts. In the case of the Ridgeline, the hydraulic struts are “locking struts” that lock in the fully extended position. This assures that the cover remains securely folded up so you can travel with the cover all the way open as the locking struts will hold it in that position.

Re: Rolbak Tonneau Cover

I am glad that I could help out a few owners...at the same time, I would like some feedback from the ground breakers before I order mine...The price is about 1/2 of the Honda OEM unit so if the quality is in par with the Honda unit, I will order mine in a couple of weeks...upon feedback from the other owners.

Re: Rolbak Tonneau Cover

All the Ridgeline tonneaus leak due to the way they are designed to fit the unique RL shape, even the OEM.

Ok, little confused here, took order of my BakFlip from BakFlip.com and paid 699.00. I looked at the link provided by 06grnride. They look to be the same price to me? http://www.bakfliptonneaucover.com/m...and_price_list. Did I miss something?

Thanks

SB Ridge..
