Re: Retrax Owners: Any Durability Issues With Your Cover?

I've had my Retrax for about 10 months, and have no complaints at all. I have never tried to make it water proof, as that isn't an issue for me. There is a little "flutter" at speed, but you only hear it when the rear window is open.

Re: Retrax Owners: Any Durability Issues With Your Cover?

Got my Retrax last fall and have had no troubles with it at all. It looks great (especially with a coat of wax on it), works great and is almost water tight. I get a slight leak on each side and a little near the cab but really not enough to be concerned about. The "flutter" noise that has been mentioned is really only noticable at highway speeds with the back window open (as others have said). The only "issue" I have had with it is the amount of room the canister takes up in the bed, but I knew that going in.

All in all, I am very happy with my Retrax.

Re: Retrax Owners: Any Durability Issues With Your Cover?

I'm another Retrax owner, since last February. It does exactly what I expected it to do, so I'd rate it a ten. The only water I get comes in where there is a gap because of the tie downs. It seems too big for silicone to take care of it. I can live with this, though. It's not bad.

As I posted above, if the noise was just a "flutter" I would not have an issue with it. It is pretty much a full-blown rattle. I installed the "rattle tape" yesterday, but have only driven in town, and have not driven over 25 MPH yet. Like I mentioned above, I will report back after I get a chance to drive on the highway.
Well, the "rattle tape" doesn't seem to be doing much. Seems as if it is a little quieter, but not much. Sounds like the rattle is coming from the front of the cover, towards the cab. I think I may have to try to get some tape futher up the track, to get where the last roller is. Maybe I'll have some time this weekend to do that.

Thumbs up Re: Retrax Owners: Any Durability Issues With Your Cover?

I have had the Retrax for approx 1 yr and I caulked the places that leaked and stopped all water from entering the bed. The only problem with the Retrax is the Lexan scratches real easy...I'm really careful with it and still scratches appear...I just bought Novus scratch remover to see if I can get them out...anyone have the same problem? Please Post how you removed the scratches...Other than that the Retrax is great and I think the best looking cover on the market..Really make the Ridgline look unique...as if it is not uniqe enough!! I get a lot of people looking and commenting on the Ridge and the Retrax! I would give it the Retrax a solid A rating.

Re: Retrax Owners: Any Durability Issues With Your Cover?

I've owned mine since I bought my truck (9 months) and I rate it 10/10.

I've also waxed my cover which I find helps repel standing water but also helps slide easier past the felt front gasket before the cannister.

I give our Retrax a solid 10. It adds a real WOW factor when we show off our truck.

The wax on the rails makes it glide smoothly and also takes away a mild noise that develops when the rails needs to be lubbed.

Here's the thread that shows the need for the tailgate seal if you spend any time on dirt roads:

Retrax Tonneau Cover and Tailgate Seal

I would imagine that people who don't leave the pavement won't need to add the seal. Anyone in that category want to comment if your decision for the seal?

Sorry Truckin'....no harm, no foul, right?!?

Sounds like everybody is very happy with their Retrax cover. I am happy with mine but.....

Well, I gotta do something about the rattle in my Retrax. It is loud enough where, if I go about 70 MPH, I can hear the rattle in the cab while I am driving. I am really sensitive to rattles in a vehicle (my wife says I am "hyper sensitive" to rattles) and it's really starting to bug me.

TSchleff....I will take some pics of mine and post them ASAIC (As soon as I can). In the mean time, you can go check out some Retrax customer photos on the Retrax website: http://www.rolltopcover.com/customerphotos-honda.htm. You can also do a search on Retrax on this site and there are several threads where folks have posted photos of the Retrax on their RL.
