Hi folks - I just bought an '08 RTS this weekend - Haven't even driven it yet as I am having the dealer install some options - tonneau cover, fog lights being the main things I didn't want to tackle myself.

I am a 44 yo family man in North Carolina. Project Manager in the electrical construction field, recently changed jobs and the new company gives a generous car allowance, whereas my old company provided a Silverado. Need 4WD because my current project is in the mountains of WV.

I've loved the RL looks since it came out and really liked the trunk (a place to keep my golf clubs instead of the back seat!). I've been "shopping" for a couple of months, torn between an SUV (Murano) and the RL. Used a shopping service with my credit union, got a quote from a local dealer, negotiated with the dealer who eventually beat the CU price (with better interest rate), and I should be in my new RL by Thursday.

Just wanted to say hello and I am looking forward to my new wheels.

Thanks VIMH - You're right - I'm heading up too the site tomorrow and wish I had it to drive, but I'll let the dealer get the options installed first that way I don't have the "tease" of driving it and have to send it back for service!

My first "new" car I ever bought was an '84 CRX, from there to a civic sedan and then an accord. I haven't owned a Honda in many years ( always had a company vehicle), but I look forward to getting a new one.

(I also own a '67 mustang convertible as my toy - hence the name "topdown")

Welcome Topdown! PM here also. I lucked into a 2006 Ridge about 4 weeks ago that was owned by a grandmother -- no joke. I have owned some fine automobiles in my life (Mercedes, Cadillac, 280zx), but I have never had anything like the Ridge for combined utility and luxury. Everytime I drive the Ridge I cannot believe how great it drives, handles, and performs. I often drive in areas where people call us "Ridge Runners" as we drive on curvy roads that follow mountain ridges -- like the eastern Smokie Mountains. I know Honda had "Ridge Runner" in mind when they named the Ridgeline.
I hope you love your Ridge as much as I love mine.

Thanks OCS - Your post just reinforces my thoughts about handling while driving the twisty roads in WV. I'll be testing the handling next week for sure.

Topdown, congrats on getting your new Ridgeline! Excellent choice! And it's good that you're getting some neat accessories so you can make the Ridge like you want it. Please post some pics when you get a chance.

I also live in North Carolina (SE corner), so a good ol' hearty welcome from another Tar Heel state resident. And it's also nice to see you're a classic car lover. You gotta love that '67 Mustang convertible! I restored a '66 coupe a few years ago. Great cars!

Re: New member, new owner

Thanks for the welcome all - I just picked it up a couple of hours ago and have been exploring all of the features, got a feeling I'll be in my driveway till way after dark. Gotta go buy a 12 pack and a bag of ice to test the in-bed cooler LOL. Awesome, I'm lovin' it is all I can say. I promise to post some pics soon!

I'm almost 44 years old and I feel like a kid at Christmas - This is a fantastic truck (but I guess you'all knew that already)

Re: New member, new owner

topdown & OwnerCS, welcome to the ROC to both of you. I enjoy reading the enthusiasm of new owners. We just passed our 3 year old birthday and we love our truck as much as the day we brought it home. We still like looking at it in the driveway, but not as much as driving around in it.

Hope to keep hearing from both of you.

Thank you guys! This is a great group. I just got mine back from the body shop. They did some beautiful work. I have a post in the misc Ridgeline section about The Longest Week about my experience. I'm going down by the lock and dam to take some pictures before it gets too dark out.

Take care,
Craig
