electrical issues - anyone else??
I have an 06 RT and it has started having alot of electrical issues recently.
1) Fuse for front lighter sockets pops as soon as you out it in. Does not matter if anything is plugged in or not. 2) Blower motor only works when it wants - turn it on any speed and it may start running or not. Most times it goes to full speed no matter what position it is in and will not turn off no matter what position you put it in unless you turn off the truck and start it again 3) I am getting the "a/c compressor clunk" everytime I start it whether the a/c is on or not and the compressor seems to cycle all the time even if the controls are set heat or off altogether it just keeps cycling like the a/c is on. I am taking it back soon but was hoping someone else had this and knew the cause so I do not get "we cannot find a problem" I was really cold today with no heat LOL |

Re: electrical issues - anyone else??
Did you remove your dash cover for any reason? Stereo upgrade? Bluetooth? iPod?
Is the passenger side of the front floor wet?

Re: electrical issues - anyone else??
No electrical modifications only thing that was done was I had a Kodiak dock for my cf-28 installed but it was 2 wires one hot and one ground and it has been removed. I double checked all my connections and everything was tight, my work was neat and clean wire was attached to fuse box under battery terminal lead under hood and had no problems while installed problems started about 2 months AFTER it was removed.

I have a 2006 RTL 31K miles and just noticed the light is out on the driver seat heater switch. Of course this is very minor, but hopefully not a sign of things to come. Otherwise the truck has been pretty solid. Other minor issue was a wire harness issue with the radio that caused heavy static on AM only. |

I have no idea what a Kodiak dock or a cf-28 are. Did you pull the dash panel to install/uninstall it? If so the dash panel connections could be loose.

Re: electrical issues - anyone else??
it was a laptop dock same as used in police vehicles and NOTHING on the dash was disassembled whatsoever. I ran the wire through a grommet in the firewall and the dock mounted to the front 2 passenger seat track bolts. This truck still has the protective plastic on the radio only other mods are cosmetic i.e. bugshield, vent visors etc NO electrical mods at all. I am taking it back tonight. When I called the dealer where I bought it to make a service appointment they were not surprised about the blower motor issue and said they had seen it before but not the lighter issue or a/c compressor. I am right that the compressor should not be running when you start it if you have it set to HOT with the heat on and it should not be cycling either right?? Compressor cycles like you have the air on no matter what position controls are in. Last night I needed to use it and had to work the blower switch about 10 times for it to finally come on and then it sounded like it went what is normally full speed and then went FASTER yet and would not turn off no matter what I did until I turned the truck off. Also floors seem dry from what I could see/feel.

Re: electrical issues - anyone else??
RT owners chime in here. I have an RTL which has climate control. On the RTL system, the A/C is always on unless you toggle it off with the A/C switch. This is true in any mode. The A/C clunk is normal. There are 100+ threads to prove it.
