Steering Wheel Conversion

Okay... so I scoured the forums (as much as I could at work..shhhh ) to find my question. I have emailed a couple people that I know in the aftermarket industry with imports, even asked dealer service departments, but have not found my answer. So, judging by the picture, I KNOW it can be done (unless it was strictly done for show and no function).

Does anyone know if the RL steering wheel is convertible/interchangeable with any other Honda make (S2000, CRV, Civic-Si, etc)?
If so, which ones?

Thanks in advance... oh, also... if I'm the lame dude that missed the other thread that has already addressed this issue, then "gently" redirect me...

Re: Steering Wheel Conversion

The splines might match up, as might the switch wiring, but I'd wonder about the air bag...

Re: Steering Wheel Conversion

Why would you want to do it? What is the problem with RL's wheel? I checked my S2000's one and don't believe it is better in any way.

I, for one, HATE 3-spoke steering wheels. I don't care if they are popular or sporty - I'm used to driving with my hand RIGHT where that bottom spoke is.

Also, (though not necessarily a complaint) the RL's wheel is oddly "flat". Sorta feels convex compared to 99% of all other steering wheels.

Oh yeh, and it creaks like cheap plastic. One day, maybe it'll get so annoying to the point I'm willing to let the dealer attempt to fix it. For now, though, I'm living with it rather than risking a trip to the dealer.

Why, oh, why must there be SOMETHING wrong with EVERYTHING I buy! LOL! My beloved 3-month-old MacBook has developed a "clinky" sound and feel when using the mouse button.

Yes, I'm a perfectionist. Sometimes I wonder if I'd even be totally satisfied with a Lexus LS460 (even IF finances allowed that).

Well, I suppose for my tastes, the interior of the picture (with the fab dash and screen, etc eliminated...just the steering wheel) really adds a rather fresh style to the bland interior of the RL.

The point of my post was to raise the question to the photo, seeing it is something not normally done, and further leads to what else may be interchangeable with the Honda/Acura line.

If nothing else... it was a clever way to spark forum chat and "break in" from being a newbie in this club

It creakes like a cheap plastic because it is.
No, you won't be satisfied even with LS460. I am perfectionist myself, always buy top of the line, have had a few very expensive vehicles, but has never been completely satisfied.

HAHAHA!!! I suppose I never thought about it that way before. What was I thinking?!?! I guess I was expecting the steering wheel to be milled from a solid block of stainless steel with neoprene vibration dampers, machined tolerances, and wrapped in the finest, thickest cowhide, hand-sewn to perfection, and contrasted by real exotic wood stained and coated with a lifetime, wear-proof finish.

Truth be told, I envy most people who "just drive it" and either don't notice or don't care about details like fit & finish or spilled sodas, stale french fries, and sand under the floormats. A friend of mine purchased a higher-mileage luxury vehicle a couple of years ago. He paid too much, the leather was worn, the carpet stained, had dozens of mechnical problems, and the interior bits rattled. But, he loves it despite all this "because it's an Infinity".

Now that I think about it, I do tend to enjoy my vehicles more once I pay them off and no longer are burdened with the contant thought of, "this is REALLY bugging me to still be paying for something that isn't perfect and can't be made perfect."

I've gone way off topic, but... Even though I'll never be able to afford a Bently, Rolls, or even a Mercedes for the forseeable future, I guess even those have interior rattles and buzzes - I once rode in a late-model Jaguar Vanden Plas that rattled worse than an unloaded flatbed trailer.

Re: Steering Wheel Conversion

I received an invitation from Maserati to test drive new Maserati GranTurismo and Quattroporte Sport GT. I think I will go and test drive them.
