New YouTube video of Elemmat Ztop Mat for Honda Ridgeline

Hi ROC Members,

I just put together a first attempt at a video that shows the Ridgeline Elemmat installed and how it works with the trunk... along with how the tailgate protector works and the trunk liners too.

I'm pretty ill but I had a quick shot at making this... which I hope to modify and do a voice over at some point... but all in all it gets the point across and shows our mat.

I hope this works:

YouTube - Ridgeline Elemmat Protective mat

*** I haven't figured out how to embed the video but if anyone knows how or if I can I will edit this to show the video - just email me & thanks! ***

Hope you enjoy it - it was fun to make and I wish I was feeling better while doing it... I'll be watching this thread if anyone wishes to ask additional questions and at the very end is a little snippet of how we make them if you're interested

Have a great day!
Tony

Re: New YouTube video of Elemmat Ztop Mat for Honda Ridgeline

I got dizzy and threw up @ 3:20 in. Anyone make it past that?

Just kidding. Nice video, but a little jumpy in parts. I have an Elemmat and although I know there are less expensive ones out there, IMHO this one is far superior.
And once you get the hang of it, it's easy to flip the mat up & over at the same time you open the trunk.

Another neat thing: with the Z Top, you can set a milk crate (the kind with the peg feet) into it and it won't slide around at all.

Good idea for the video. Nice to see how it sits.

As far as embedding, it looks as if the owner/mods have HTML posting disabled. If it were enabled you can put in this code:
HTML Code:
<object width="425" height="355"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/8S6CC1Z0G_o&hl=en"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/8S6CC1Z0G_o&hl=en" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="355"></embed></object>
and it would embed it.

looks nice but i'm sure i'd never have a reason to use it and i open the trunk way too much to hve to fold it over every time. My bed is already all scratched up anyway.

I really fail to understand the point of things like this. Bed liners exist to keep paint from rusting, not to keep beds all pretty. Since the beds of our trucks aren't metal, there is nothing to worry about. Not to mention that the sides of the bed are still going to get scuffed, if that is your concern. If you're so concerned about scuffing your bed, you probably should have just bought an SUV or a wagon with a nice carpeted interior in the first place. Toss your crap in the bed and stop worrying about it. It's things like this that make other truck drives laugh at us. Show your scuffs proudly - it means you actually use your truck as a truck.

What material is used to make our truck beds?

Mine has a couple of scratches on the floor that removed the flat black spray and it looks like something silver showing. I worry aout the exposed metal rusting over time. Will it rust?

Go here:Composite Bed Chips
and read vertkr's and pug's post's.

Hope this will answer your concerns.

Edit - Sorry, this thread may explain the composite bed better but is quite long and requries more reading. -- Did Honda falsely advertise the bed as being "scratch resistant"?

Thank you. Knowing the bed is not going to rust makes me love the Ridge even more.

My favorite thing aobut using a mat is that stuff stays put. Just tonight, I picked up some 6 packs of Coke and just threw them in the bed. Stayed in the exact same place where I put them. Without the mat, they would have slid all over the place. For me, it's a lot more about function than looks.
