Big Box Removal Continued

In the process to restore my backseat area to a more usable condition, I have removed the boombox, speakers and amps from the area. Now I am in the process of installing the rear seat and for lack of a better word, I AM STALLED.

The problem is I am lacking a single bracket for the drivers side seat bottom. According to Honda, this piece is included in the Left Rear Seat Cushion Frame # 022 - 82536-SJC-A01 and is covered by the left reclining outer cover #020 - 82515-SJC-A01ZB. Since this is part of the seat frame, it cannot be sold separately, which means even using Bernardi Parts, I would have to pay over $250.00 for a single metal bracket. This bracket bolts to the center cross member and attaches to the seat via two bolt holes.

As I understand it, when the rear seat is removed, this bracket, bolted to the seat, is unbolted from the crossmember to facilitate the removal of the seat. For whatever reason, when I opened the box containing all the seatbelts, bolts and other misc. parts that were given to me when I bought the truck, this bracket was missing and it isn't on the seat.

I have included some pictures of the passenger side bracket, without the seat bolted on, so you can get an idea of what I'm looking for. I believe the drivers side would be a reverse of the passenger side.

For now, I have three options.

One....purchase the seat frame to get the bracket. Easy, but expensive.

Two....My local Honda Parts guy says he has the seat frame and cushion I need sitting in his inventory, marked as a warranty return. It was removed from a 2006 Ridgeline under warranty and if Honda doesn't call for it's return by mid August, their policy is to throw it away. He has written my name on it and says if that's what happens, He'll give it to me after it's tossed it in the dumpster. This is great, but it means not back seat for another 40 or so days.

Three....Find the bracket I need at a wrecking yard, buy it and install it. A good concept, but aparently, there are absolutely NO wrecked Ridgelines in all of Arizona. Not a @#$%!@#! one. This speaks well for the Ridgelines ability to survive crashes and be repaired, but it doesn't do me a bit of good right now. So I'm asking for all of my fellow ROC members to see if they can find this bracket and have it shipped to me. I will of course pay for the bracket and shipping expenses. I know somewhere out there there is a Ridgeline in some wrecking yard with a busted up seat but a perfectly good drivers side bracket. I know it is pretty ghoulish, but I need help in picking over the bones of deceased Ridgelines. Please Help me get my beloved truck back into useful condition. At least with the boombox, I had an excuse not to carry more than one person. Now it's just a big empty back there, looking pretty pitiful.

Here are the pics and thanks in advance for whatever help I can get.

1) This is what the passenger side bracket looks like....taken from outside the rear passenger door.

2) Passenger side bracket taken from inside the rear seat area, looking out the passenger rear door.

3) Drivers side crossmember, without the necessary bracket.

4) Drivers side crossmember, without the necessary bracket, taken from outside the drivers door.

5 A flipped shot of the passenger side bracket to give you an idea of what I need.

If you can find one of these, please PM me asap. I don't know if I can give out my cell number, so if one of the moderators can let me know if that is allowed.

Thanks again for you help.

Re: Bix Box Removal Continued

Rusty,

Have you tried Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market Search on 2006 Ridgeline Seat, 2nd. There are at least 30 dealers with them inventoried. Forget about the prices shown. Email or call them and see if they'll sell you the bracket. Some guys will, some guys won't. If you're real nice they may go for it.

Re: Bix Box Removal Continued

Thanks for the suggestion. I've used this website and of the seven business I talked to, no one would take the time to see if they could remove the bracket and sell it separately. Companies that have national links all work the same, that's why I'm hoping someone knows a smaller operation that just deals locally. Or if anyone has good terms with their local Honda dealership, they might check to see is a warranty return seat is being tossed out and can get the bracket that way.

This was posted a while back, and I bookmarked it to my "parts" folder...
Pam's Auto Inc.
I have no experience with them, just saw it in a post.

All of the local operations in my area deal with car-part.com. I would keep calling.

Thanks, but they couldn't help

Believe me, I have called everyone I could find online, along with every local Phoenix, Tucson and Flagstaff area wrecking yard and no one would separate the bracket from the seat. What I need is a seat that was damaged in a wreck (or fire) or whatever (not that I'm wishing this to happen, but it does). Most national linked shops either scrap these parts or simply don't list them in their inventory. That's why I've come to this site. There are thousands of ROC members across the country who know about some little wrecking yard in there area which might be able to help.

Maybe this is the sign to go straight to your plan on rear bucket seats....

Re: Bix Box Removal Continued

It was a serious consideration, but for now I can't afford the cost of two bucket seats, two new amps and the construction of a new dash to back wall center console. Worse case scenario is I buy a seat frame, remove the bracket and then try and recoup some of the seat frame cost by reselling it.

Re: Big Box Removal Continued

Sorry Rusty, checked at work, but nothing available. Damaged seats rare, believe they get sent back. Tried to check ordering from my end, but that is what we call a 'child part'; get same result as you (have to order the full L/S frame)...

Re: Big Box Removal Continued

I have no idea what the bracket looks like, but is there anyone in your are that could fabricate a bracket for you if you provided a description or pic of it?
