New Mystery Noise

Just short of 3 months of ownership and just over 2000 miles of mild-mannered driving, my Ridgeline has developed a new mystery noise that concerns me. Since I don't remember seeing anybody post anything with this particular noise, here is what I'm hearing: Particularly at highway speeds on roads with uneven surfaces (ie patched concrete interstates), I am hearing a clunking noise that appears to be originating from somewhere around the passenger side front wheel well. Climbed under the truck the other day but nothing appeared to be out of place or loose. I plan on taking my truck into the dealer next week for the infamous haunted steering wheel and was curious to know if anybody else out there in ROC-land has experienced a similar noise.

Still love my truck- just need to get the wrinkles straightened out. Thanks.

Re: New Mystery Noise

No phantom noises here, just the groan from me when the drips on my new brick paved driveway turned out to be power steering fluid. But I feel for you guy, owning an accord too we are not used to rattles. Is that Richmond Honda on West Broad St?

Re: New Mystery Noise

I have a similar clunking noise from the rear passenger side. I only hear it when going over bumps that hit the rear tire or even exiting a driveway. I've checked everything I can see and everything is tight.
Also my windshield is starting to whistle. I thought I had got lucky on that problem.
I am trying to hold off until the first oil change and just leave it there all day.

I checked them a while back. It really sounds like the rear right tire area.

Re: New Mystery Noise

I had a bad shock on the rear of mine. They replaced it and the thump went away. I looked at it and saw no leak or any damage, since the replacement no noise. Good luck.

We purchased at Mechanicsville Honda. I know I may be in the minority but I have had my share of body integrity issues with Hondas. While the engine will last forever, rattles/clunks/squeaks etc. have been more common in the 5 Hondas I have owned. The lone exception is my wife's '04 Accord which appears to be the best built car I have ever owned (and I've owned a few). The Accord's body integrity is nearly Germanic in nature.

Oh well, hopefully I can kill 2 birds with one stone when I take the RL in for the new noise. They can also attempt to remedy the infamous creaking steering wheel.

Re: New Mystery Noise

sounds like a loose shock or strut, I would even go as far as checking the lug nuts on the tire to make sure they are tight. Let us know what you find or what the dealer says after they check it out.
