What are the differences betwen the RT and RTX?

So I get a call from the dealer today and apparently my parents decided to buy me a white RTX and Im looking at the honda.com website trying to figure out what specifically is different between the RT and the RTX etc.

From what I can immediately see, it would appear that the RTX comes with the following items and the RT doesn't:

Towing Package (hitch and wiring harness)
Painted alloy wheels (gray)
Honeycomb mesh with chrome trim
Body colored door handles
17" alloy wheels

Is there anything else that is standard on the RTX that isn't on the RT?

Other questions: What are the wheel size on the RT model, if it's 17" on the RTX, is it only 16" on the RT?

Thanks,

Thanks for that.

What's the difference between a styled wheel and an alloy wheel? And why would someone want one over the other?

Re: What are the differences betwen the RT and RTX?

The RT has steel ("styled") wheels. The RTX has a painted finish (kind of a titanium gray color) aluminum alloy wheels. It makes a small difference in unsprung weight (alloy is lighter). If you look in the photo galleries, you'll see that the RT wheels are have broad flat spokes while the RTX/RTS/RTL alloys have a 3-D styling...

The RTS and RTL had silver color painted alloys prior to the 2008 model year. This year, those trim lines get a "machined finish" aluminum alloy similar to what you see on Accord or Odyssey EX or EX-L/Touring models.

Re: What are the differences betwen the RT and RTX?

Thank god.. lolzz. don't feel bad about getting a RTX and not a RTL or RTS. i have the RTX and it fits me perfect. I have had two people with RTL's try to buy my RTX rims so im thinking there o.k. I love the RTX wheel color on a white truck. it will look sweet.

The first thing your going to want to do it rip out that radio and replace it. Not a problem as the RT and RTX come with the crappy radio you won't feel bad throwing it in the trash. Other than that some side steps, and your set!!!

One other cool thing about RTX wheels: They have to be absolutely FILTHY before they look the least bit dirty

Some photos of my white RTX.

Thanks. You know since it's a gift it shouldn't be difficult to not feel bad about getting an RTX. Hell they could have bought me a 1978 datsun 620 pickup kingcab if they had the mind to so.....

I was thinking some of the first things that will get done to the truck will likely be:

1. Radio exchange (if I can find something that isn't too flashy but still gives me all modern convieniences like mp3, wav, etc etc etc)
2. Replace side black mirrors with body colored mirrors,

On the radio, I assume that I can either get a single DIN or a double DIN radio with the only thing being that if I get a double DIN Then I lose that cubby box under the radio in stock formation. Is this correct? Is there anything special I need to know when shopping for a replacement stereo, like pre-existing amps, or odd configurations?

Of the photos I've been able to scrounge up, I think the painted gray wheels look really good on the white truck and much better than some wheels that I saw in chrome, but I don't know if the ones I saw in chrome looking are hub caps or factory, it was on a google search for photos of the RTX, so theres not a whole lot of any disapointment there.

I tend to look on the bright side so when I found out it was an RTX, I said to myself, 'Good, it's got the body colored door handles'. So.. it's all good.

Thanks for the photos. Everytime someone shows me photos of their Ridgeline in white, I get a little bit more confident in my decission to get the Ridgeline in white myself. I wavered briefly last week (actually for about 5 hours I did nothing but scrutinize NON Oem photos of different colored ridgelines and kept going back to the black one but then decided, that where I live our summer days are almost always between 110° F and 121°F so black would not be a good option plus having a black car before I remember the palm prints and how bad ths dust showed up even when the car was washed that morning.

Yes, the white is the right color for me (I think)

Re: What are the differences betwen the RT and RTX?

I traded a black 2003 GMC Sierra on my Ridgeline. It was a P.I.T.A. to keep clean & after Katrina, I didn't have the energy to keep up with the scuffs & scratches. If there are water spots on the white RL, I don't know about 'em

You can buy the body colored mirror housings from several online Honda parts vendors. I think they run about $30-40 apiece. Based on some of the how-tos here (ChrisM's how-to fabricate mirror turn indicators is one), it doesn't look like a too-difficult thing to swap out the housings, if you are so inclined. That said, the black "RT/RTX" mirrors look good against the white.

Another little note about mods: black nerf bars, brush guards & similar accessories are usually substantially cheaper than polished stainless or chrome. And they look great on white trucks!

BTW, you can buy a USA Spec, Car2PC or similar module to plug right into the back of the OEM stereo to give you an input for iPOD, mp3 player, laptop audio, aftermarket (((XM))) or what have you. My Car2PC adapter cost less than $80 & will control WinAmp or Media Player on my laptop via the buttons on the OEM head unit. Just mentioning that option. I do miss having a 6CD changer like in our Odyssey, though...

Re: What are the differences betwen the RT and RTX?

Wow, what a gift! IMHO the RTX's stand out from the other RL's with their subtle differences. I was looking for a white RTX and the dealer couldn't find one in four surrounding states. I ended up with a DCP RTX and never looked back. You will enjoy the RTX.

And, by the way, are your parents looking for the child they never had? I'd be totally willing to put myself up for adoption. I'm house broken, have a good job and wife (but she doesn't eat much).
