Thumbs up Write a Ridgeline review and help potential buyers

I was reading some of the reviews in the Honda Ridgeline section of autos.yahoo.com and I'm concerned that people who might be perfect for the Ridgeline, are turned off by the reviews that are posted there.

I think people on this forum who actually own and drive the Ridgeline should post some reviews so potential buyers can get a more accurate picture of Ridgeline features. The reviews that are rated most useful are listed first so if you think another review is useful vote "Yes" and if you think it is misleading and NOT useful then vote "No".

Here is an example of a review you can find there. Andrew Thomas from Hampton Roads, VA posted a review that says:

Quote:
Engine is making some strange sounds. When I'm towing by bikes it overheates so i have to pull over till it cools down.

Amazingly 49 out of 58 people found this review helpful but I found it frustratingly incomplete. He posted this in July of 2005 and one is left with the impression that poor Andrew is still suffering the strange sounds and over heating. No way to know if he took it in to a dealer and what the outcome might have been. The Ridgeline was designed for towing with the high capacity radiator with dual 160-watt fans so there is probably something wrong with Andrew's Ridgeline and he should get it fixed.

There are several reviews focused on looks and whether or not the Ridgeline is a truck. Never mind that 49 international automotive journalists voted the Ridgeline the North American Truck of the Year -- many reviews scream that the Ridgeline is not a truck. I think I saw where Edmund's said the Ridgeline is perfect for people who don't really need a truck so perhaps many of the points made in these reviews have some validity but I know many of us on the ROC forum use their Ridgeline as a truck.

Bob Farelluone from Detroit had this review to contribute:

Quote:
My eyes are bleeding evertime I see one of these on the road.

I can't believe Honda is selling this as a truck. For the price of it you can get a real truck like an F-150 instead.

So I wonder if Bob doesn't think Motor Trends Magazine was qualified to determine what is a truck and not a truck when Motor Trend magazine named the Ridgeline Truck of the Year? Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder and everyone has their opinion but those who frequent this forum might also want to contribute their opinion.

Mo from Jacksonville, Florida argues that the Ridgeline is not a truck. Here are some excerpts from his review for your reading pleasure:

Quote:
No matter what people say, this is not a truck!!!!!! All it is is an suv with the back chopped off. People say that it has a nice ride, which it does, but that is only because it IS PRACTICALLY A CAR!!! I took this thing to a trucking convention and got booed the whole way there. After just 5 weeks of owning it, I traded it in for a 2006 Toyota Tacoma, which is better made, for a better price, and its acutally a TRUCK!!!!!!!

So if you would like to add a review to the yahoo.com auto section go to autos.yahoo.com then select the Honda Ridgeline and click on the "Write a Review".

Great idea. We should also write reviews on epinions.com

Re: Write a Ridgeline review and help potential buyers

Unfortunately, many (maybe even a majority) truck owners judge the goodness or badness of a truck by only one criterion - the nameplate on the tailgate.

Exclamation Re: Write a Ridgeline review and help potential buyers

Great call MontanaFred! I read through 52 "reviews" and I am amazed how non owners and people that have never even been in a Ridgeline can write a "Review". If you separate the Ridgeline owners reviews from the non owners, the difference of opinion is huge - and very suspicious. I don't have a problem with a non owner stating that they don't like the appearance or that they need a truck that can tow or carry more or that they need a truck that gets 35MPG. The "Reviews" that claim that the Ridgeline is not a truck at all is simply misleading and of questionable origin. I will write and post a review as I also think that other ROC members should in order to counter the mis-information. Thanks for suggesting that we do so MontanaFred, and thanks for bringing it to our attention.

Re: Write a Ridgeline review and help potential buyers

thanks Fred,

Yeah, yahoo was obviously spammed by a bunch of trolls that don't even own the truck. I added a genuine users review.

I will write one for epinions when I get a chance -- thanks for the suggestion Smokey. I checked and there are three there that look like they were actually written by real Ridgeline owners.

Re: Write a Ridgeline review and help potential buyers

Although many of those Yahoo Ridgeline reviews are not very useful to potential buyers they are certainly good for a belly laugh - every time I think of Mo from Jacksonville in his Ridgeline being booed all the way to a trucking convention I have to chuckle. LOL

Re: Write a Ridgeline review and help potential buyers

Just by the writing style of most of the negative reviews, I think it's obvious many of them are written by the same person. You would have to be a moron to think that people wouldn't see through that.

Pathetic and very funny at the same time.

I hope everyone here drops by there and writes an honest experience with their RL. Potential buyers deserve to be told the truth. Except for you Vertrkr, you can stay home.

I'm not sure about that. I think it would cancel out your positive remarks in the mind of the buyer/reader as being as unreliable as that domestic idiot that's posting all the crap. I think it's better just to appear as just another happy customer which you are.
