Re: Shovelhd media/nav upgrade

Here is a crappy shot of the remote gain control for the sub. I like to turn it down when listening to talk radio, i.e. the NASCAR channel.

Re: Shovelhd media/nav upgrade

The only things I have left to do are:

1) Big Three
2) Connect the camera to the reverse wire. Thanks bongus for the detailed pictures.

I wanted to give a BIG thanks to shovelhd and this thread. With his help I was able to do my little install.

Re: Shovelhd media/nav upgrade

Excellent!!! I'm glad it helped someone. Thanks to bongus, hofffam, and fredridge who came before me and gave me ideas.

I finally got the reverse wire hooked up. It's a bitch to get to but it's done.

Re: Shovelhd media/nav upgrade

I think your install looks great. Only problem I see is the same one I am having. Are there any kits out there that will mount without that larger gap between the kit and mp3 pocket?

Re: Shovelhd media/nav upgrade

The gap is caused by the way the pocket is attached to the kit. The kit uses the factory Kenwood mounting points, which only leaves two bolts on each side to attach the pocket. Closing this gap would require modification of the pocket and the kit, something I did not feel was worth the effort.

Re: Shovelhd media/nav upgrade

Drmel, if you want to paint your kit with the SEM paint, I have plenty left over, and you can have it for the shipping cost.

Re: Shovelhd media/nav upgrade

Thanks fredridge for encouraging me to cut the inside of the rear door panel to give the speakers more clearance. There was easily 3/8" that I was able to cut out. The plastic cut like butter with a utility knife. The panel was buzzing only at full tilt before but now it's gone.

Awesome, you have a killer install and it's nice to have it working right all the way around.
I am seriously getting the bug over at DIY audio forum, so once I decide whether I am keeping the RL or not I am going to start experimenting.
