Re: Usa Spec Ipod Adapter

Just ordered the USA SPEC from Crutchfield. I asked the salesman if this was the improved version with the hybrid mode on the dip switches. He said, "sorry sir but this only has two modes." Is the version with the hybrid mode available yet or was he just clueless? I figured these were the new ones because they just became available (a couple weeks ago Crutchfield said they were on backorder till late July).

Re: Usa Spec Ipod Adapter

Probably clueless, I checked USA Spec's website and they still had the old information (no reference about hybrid mode)

Re: Usa Spec Ipod Adapter

I ordered the USA Spec unit from Crutchfield a month ago (or longer) and what arrived was the updated Hybrid mode unit. It works as advertised. With the older versions, I would likely have used the Direct Mode. I see no drawback to the new Hybrid mode and that's what I've been using.

Note that there is a known problem with this unit operating in Ridgelines (only?). The head unit display will flash the track/time continuously. It bothers me, but there is no solution at this time. I called USA Spec and their only suggestion was to call back every 2 months to see if there is an update. Unfortunately, the units can be flashed, so you'd have to send it back for a replacement.

Good luck!

Question Re: Usa Spec Ipod Adapter

I have a question about these adapters. Previous posts have stated if already using XM, then you need a Y-connector before plugging one of these in.

Still true?

(I am especially interested in the "indashPC Honda/Acura 03+ Auxiliary interface(Car2AUX-HON1)" with just the universal RCA connection for any MP3 player.)
((I still think it's bogus that only the the RTL with Nav comes with an input jack, while it's standard on the basic Honda Element)).

Hi - I have a 2007 Honda Ridgeline with Navigation and I've heard

This was sent to me from the email address of info@usaspec.com. You may want to call again to see if this means that there is a new fix.

Re: USA Spec Ipod Adapter

More importantly, can the older units be "flashed" and upgraded with the new hybrid mode feature??

Unit only works with ipods (with or without video) or nano. I think it is refered to as units with dock type port.

Re: USA Spec Ipod Adapter

orangecj - the USA Spec ipod adapter is indeed designed to be used with dock type iPods. As such, it is not specifically designed for use with the iPod Shuffle. That said, you could use the auxilary input on the USA Spec to listen to your shuffle. You would not have the ability to control your iPod using the stereo controls. with this set up.

This is not an ideal solution, and may or may not be the cheapest.

Re: USA Spec Ipod Adapter

Rob, I am going to get two, one for my RL, the other for wife's 07 Accord. The RL looks easy (like the one I put in my old Avalanche) but i have been told I wont have fun with the accord. True? Any advice before I buy and start? Thanks.....
