Question MP3 Player Aux Jack

New RL RTS owner for all of two weeks. I know this has been discussed in other threads but wanted the expert opinion of the forum.

I have a Sandisk MP3 player and therefore the IPOD hook-ups will do me no good other than audio out. Basically just need a direct conect to the RL stereo.

Is the Car2PC adapter http://indashpc.org/new/aux_adapters/car2aux-hon1.html best for me? At $59 it's the best price.

thanks in advance for the advice.

Re: MP3 Player Aux Jack

I installed a similar device and paid about the same. Mine was made by P.I.E. and it works perfectly, plus you can use any type of external player you want, ipod or otherwise.
I can't speak specifically about the brand you chose, but it looks exactly like what I bought and I am very happy.

I have an indashpc adapter (one with the laptop USB interface) & it works just fine. If you don't need/want the USB controller, the $59 version is the same innards for the aux unit.

Installed:

Using a Palm T3 as an mp3 player:

This only applies if you get the USB interface that controls WinAmp from the head unit buttons, but it's fun. The head unit shows time elapsed, while WinAmp shows time remaining.

Thumbs up Re: MP3 Player Aux Jack

Djeaux,

You got me hooked with the USB interface in addition to the aux jack. The WinAmp display on the pc was all it took to say "what the heck $20 more and get the usb".

How did you mount the interface box? Double back tape? Where did you run the wire to hook up the mp3 player out of? I was thinking I could put the jack in the cubby beneath the stereo head unit.

thanks, a picture is worth a thousand words,

Re: MP3 Player Aux Jack

I just installed a GROM(from indashpc) this weekend. I have found that if I turn the radio ALL the way up to 40 and my mp3 player ALL the way up it will be as loud as a CD on 09. Am I missing something? This is pretty close to unacceptable. What kind of volume is available on the USA-Spec?
I have an 07 RTL w/subwoofer.

Any thoughts?

thx

Did you just buy the adaptor? I had that problem with a unit I purchased about a year ago. They sent me a new ROM chip and all is better. The chip is vehicle specific I believe so you may just have the wrong chip.

Of course, I still haven't gotten the display on the HU to display like DJeaux has, but it hasn't been important enough to me to spend time diagnosing.

Single click on the WinAmp time and it should change to time elapsed... ...But then again You may have done this and it could because of how it is interacting with the interface...

Just bought the unit. Kind of a bummer. I am wondering if the USA SPEC adapter is better

Re: MP3 Player Aux Jack

Will this play MP3's from a USB flash drive?
