Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)
I finally got my dealer to agree to cut and program my FOB! Hmmm...Imagine that, it works just fine!!
I guess I can understand where they are coming from, to a degree, some weirdo off the street shows up with an off the wall request, they didn't know any better...I told them they were mistaken and said for $35, humor me! lol They cut and programmed in around 20 min, no problems. They actually put their tail between their legs and apologised for giving me such a hard time! But anyway...Thanks again for all the help guys! |

Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)
I was at the parts dept. of my local Honda and out of curiosity asked them how much a new RL key would cost. They told me $75 just for the blank, before cutting and programming, so that $46 for the flip-out key looks like a good deal.

Thanks for sharing Houston. That's exactly what my tech used (after trying the iPaq) to program the keys. ![]()

Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)
So before I head down to the Acura dealer let me just make sure that I have the part numbers correct:
If I want the 3 button remote (trunk being the third and a useless button) then I ask for part number 35111-SEP-306 If I want the 2 button remote then I ask for part number: 35718-STK-A01 Then press both buttons at the same time to disable the seat memory, Then i take the new flipkey across the street to the Honda dealer and ask them to cut the key to my vin (vehicle will be with me) and ask one of the SA's to have the chip in it programmed to my RT, making sure to tell them to use the tablet PC to program it and not any of the smaller handheld devices. Have I got that right now? Sure would be nice to have a flipkey and not poke any more holes in my dress slacks pockets when I crouch down like I did yesterday. Lastly: should I take both of my current keys (2) to the honda store with me? Will they all need to be programmed when they program the flip key, or do they only need to program the flip key? I figure if it's too expensive to program then I'll just use the other method and sacrifice my spare key and use the chip in that and put it into the flip key like I saw described somewhere else recently, since I was given a dremel set recently as a gift and have yet to actually use it, it shouldn't be too difficult.
