Honestly...the dealers want to make money, plain and simple. My dealer which I have a very good customer/vendor relationship with, completed the cutting and programming of 2 keys for free. I do all my service and I have purchased many OEM accessories from them.

Hmmmm, since my RT is brand new and doesn't even have it's plates on it, maybe it will work something similar like, "If you'd like for me to have my vehicle serviced here as well as it's warranty repairs, then maybe you all can cut me a deal on this".

I'll give it a try if they go for the more expensive route. I only wish I had the local dealers license plate plackards to have them think that it was purchased from them.

lol yeah rite... No dealership wants the problems of warrentys, we dont get paid on warrentys. All a warrenty really does to a dealership is screw up service, bends the tech over while making him do a 6 hour job when it pays only 3, and then the cust is mad at us cause they had this problem with the car so they are yelling and getting mad at the people who works there not the manufacturer thus giving us bad CSI meaning I dont get a good pay check. But I work for parts so Im never mad and I understand where your coming from. Whatever works rite

Very good idea. I believe there are reputable dealers out there. The tech I work with at my Honda dealer likes tinkering with all the accessories. So he has fun seeing the weird things we can add to our RLs to make them our own.

Technicians may not want to do warranty and why would they when they can do a 60k service in 1 and a half hours and get paid for 4, or they can do a sunglass holder in .5 hours and get paid .3 hours. BUT the dealerships I most assure you do want our warranty work. They get paid for it just like they do customer pay. Granted, not as much per hour but a big dealership brings in big bucks in the warranty department, I should know this since I bring in millions of dollars spread across a few dealership every year in their warranty repairs.

Sometimes the tech's just have to earn up to their mistakes without screwing the customers. I've seen a technician accidently poke a hole in a radiator with a screwdriver while trying to remove something else near to the top of the radiator and then tell the service advisor that the vehicle needs a new radiator because it's leaking. So not all tech's are exactly squeaky clean ya know. So *sometimes* the tech's do need a little yelling at to keep them in line just as do most employees.

Anyway.... The keyfob cost me about $45.00 with tax From Acura of the Desert, and the local Honda store wants $15.00 to cut the key and $45.00 to program it to which I declined and I'll just wait until I go to one of the dealers that I contract with in Lost Angeles week after next and have the parts guy do the cutting for free and one of my buddy technicians do the programming for me at no charge. Oh and like other people might have mentioned, the dealer personel didn't know if they could do it or not (programming the key), I assured them that it works and that if it were affordable I would be willing to risk the money if it didn't work. The parts girl had to go ask someone how much it would be (assuming her manager) and I may call them tommorrow and ask a service advisor how much it is to program the key in case the parts manager was making up a number which is certainly possible.

The key should be here tommorrow, as the acura dealer had to order it in.

Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)

Once again, the board provides great info on the RL. Ordered the Acura key from Delray as previously posted and made the appropriate changes to the key. Took the new key along with my others to the dealer where I purchased the truck. They cut the key and reprogrammed the truck (for free) and everything works as advertised. Thanks to all.

Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)

If anybody is having a hard time getting these key cut let me know maybe we can work something out by you guys sending me the keys and cutting them for you, then I could fedex them back too for a small fee just enough to cover shipping and my time. But really to help everybody out. Just a thought
