Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)
Got mine done Friday...parts from SonsAccura and my dealer did the cut and programing. Couldn't get around the $90 charge, though. I went to several dealers - all basically stuck to their guns on the minimum one hour labor charge. I figured it wasn't worth my time and gas etc. to keep chasing the lower cost all over the city so just paid to get it done where I bought it.
It did take longer than expected, almost 40 minutes. And they never guaranteed it would work. They did insist on re-doing my two regular keys also - despite my thoughts that it wasn't necessary, I assume that's where the extra time comes from. Still I'm happy. I absolutely HATE having bulky things in my pockets, so this was worth it to me. Curious, do we know if this key would work with a Pilot or Accord? Buddy has one of each and wants the flip key too now ![]() |

Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)
Purchased my FOB from SonsAccura for the ROC rate. Took it to the dealer Saturday to have cut/prog. They service manager gave me the usual "we can't guarantee it will work" bit. After about 40 minutes and $48 went by I was pulling out with a working flip-key.
Thanks everyone! Nice to not get stabbed in the @#$& anymore ![]()

Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)
Got mine from Sons as well. Had my local Honda dealer cut and program it for $40 OTD! Not a bad deal overall. They told me I was not the first person to do this. I wonder who did. I don't know too many RL owners that live around Rock Hill, SC!

Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)
It's rather funny that every single time that I take my truck into the honda dealer for work, the same service advisor asks me for my key and I had him my flip key and he hands it back and said you gave me your acura key. I remind him each time that it's the trucks key and then he goes around to the other advisors to show it to them.

Re: 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)
When I presented this key conversion to my local Honda parts department I got the 'hairy eyeball of doubt" and they did not give me a price for the cutting and programing. Roughly what should the ballpark cost be for the whole shebang, Acura key, cutting & programing? Just avoiding being overcharged.
