Lightbulb 07 TL key fob conversion (Flip key)

I am starting this new thread so that its easier to search. I guess I am probley not the first one to do this, but you guys ask me to post up more info, so here are the details and the pictures.

Part Used: 35111-SEP-306
Alt part use to have the 2 button look 35718-STK-A01

Total Cost:The key use to be around $46 for the key fob, (but Acura had a price increase on parts now so it might be a higher price). To get it program it was free ( I work for Honda) but every Honda place is different on pricing, I wouldnt pay no more then $20. If all fails walk around to the shop and ask a tech to program it on the side.

Now before you go about getting this program you will have to turn off the seat memory function on the key. Because the Honda HDS does not see the key with the memory being on. The way to turn it off on the key is HOLD BUTTON UNLOCK AND LOCK UNTILL IT BLINKS.Remember you have to disable the seat memory to program the KEY!!

Have fun guys!!

Andy

Thanks for sharing...looks like I'm off to get a new key. Maybe Trevor (H&A) has some thoughts on this thread.

The Element Owners Club forum has a great write up on doing this. They use the key from the MDX and the casing from the RDX. One of the members even has a website set up with a step by step on how to do this.

I understand what you have heard might work, but I didnt want to go on here and assure everybody that it would work when I never did it myself. I know for a fact that the 07 TL key would work because Im using it rite now. But if its a cheaper key and you find out for sure it will work then add on to the thread brother.

Thanks for the info. Is the part # you listed for the 2-button model for the entire unit or just a "conversion" ??? Does the new key have the same blank as the RL key you pictured ?? My key is the exact same blank as the one in the picture, so if I were to order the part # for the 2-button model, I would just need to get it cut and programmed, right ??

35111-SEP-306 = the key with the three button remote, the other part number is for the 2 button cover so you dont have the button for the trunk. You dont need to buy the other cover but Im pretty anal and outta sight, outta mind.

Dude, I hate to be a pain, but I've got another question. I found a website that sells that part # (35111-SEP-306) for $28. Sounds good, but they also list 35111-SEP-307 for $60. I posted a link to the webpage. What's the difference ?? They price the standard keys for the same $28, so could the part #'s be wrong ?? They also don't have any part # for the 2-button cover. Your thoughts ???

Here is the part number for the RDX cover if you want to make the 3-button TL remote into a 2-button: 35118-STK-A01
