How did you route the driver's side speaker wire through the door sill?

That's a nice looking response curve. Once you get the door speakers in and you run the program again, how much can you tweak the response?

Nice work!
Keep in mind that isn't a true response curve. The only way to truly get that is with pink noise and a true RTA.

Or better yet, TEF.

Flat response is cool, but in a moving car it doesn't make the listening experience pleasurable. You need to compensate for road noise.

Also, recording engineers do not always "flatten" out the source material to begin with. Overcompensating frequencies also cause other problems. Poorly recorded/produced CD's.... It's a never ending battle if you're into sound quality.

Still, getting rid of obvious dips and peaks is important. Nothing worse than a peak at let's say 1kHz.

Re: Bginvestor's Audio Install Day #3

Mic placement is critical as well, especially in an irregular environment like a truck. TEF is great for these things, but I've never seen a mobile audio tuner use one. I use a 1/3 octave RTA and pink noise, but again, it's just a starting point. I tune the rest by ear and use the RTA to check my changes.

Re: wire lube....

Home Depot and Lowes sells exactly this. It is a gel-like substance designed to make wires slippery so it can be pulled through conduit easily. It is clear, water based, and works very well. You don't need much. I've used it for outdoor AC wiring and in my RL.

That stuff is great. In a pinch, silicone spray lube works well too.

Mr. Bigs

Actually, it is a FRF of "pink noise". It was playing a CD (pink noise) while the 3sixy.1 did the OEM integration.

I was interested in the PXE-H650 because of the tuning capibilities of the mic, but got the 3sixty.1 at a good price.

Take care..

I knew there had to be some good stuff out there. Depending on how the drivere's door wiring goes, I may be going to Lowes tomorrow!

If you have a laptop and a mic you can get a true flat curve with free rta software on the web. I understand the 360.2 reads the pinknoise directly from the radio. The true rta curve comes from in the cabin of the truck.

Re: Bginvestor's Audio Install Day #3

You need a calibrated mic to get a true curve.
