Help.... navigation tv converter...

Hello felow ridgeline owners... eventhough i bought my ridgeline when they very first came out, i have not had the funds to do any upgrades.. but i now have some extra cash and, i'm going to upgrade my sound system and i will also be adding headrest screens...
Anyways my question is... is there a way to watch dvds through my stock navigation screen? is it expensive? where do i buy the parts?

I found a local stereo shop that sales premaid subwoofer boxes for the ridgeline for $85 is that a good deal?

I already have (2) 12" alpine type R subs, what do you think?
I also have a JL 500/1 amp and a 300/4 for my infinity door speakers...

I want to keep my stock HU with the navi system...

Any suggestions on how to get started or any tips or comments would be greatly appriciated... Thanks in advance..

Re: Help.... navigation tv converter...

I converted my navigation screen into a dvd player and tv tuner. I got the converter from ebay for 199.00 and put a dvd player under the passenger seat for 65 bucks. Very easy to install, and resolution is phenomenal.

Unfortunately, your TV will go dark on February 17th, 2009. I'm in the same boat with an aftermarket system, hoping that a digital tuner will become available.

Help me understand why the tv would go dark??

If you have an end to end analog system (DVD player & monitor) what is going to stop the unit from working?

Analog television broadcasting will end on February 17th, 2009. Your TV tuner receives analog broadcasts. You will need a digital TV tuner for your vehicle. See www.dtv2009.org.

Shovelhd -- I just reread the original post and saw the mention about the "tv tuner" part of the install.

Your comment makes sense.

This weekend I had a long discussion with my inlaws about the analog to digital switch. I wont go into the details, but for some reason they seem to think that their DVD player will not work when the switch occurs. I tried to explain to them that a DVD player and monitor is a closed system and will not be impacted by the switch. They just looked at me with glazed over eye's.

Re: Help.... navigation tv converter...

Right, no affect at all on the DVD part.

Kenwood makes a digital TV tuner for the European market where the conversion has already taken place. It's only a matter of time before they make one for the US market. Hopefully it's this system.
