Aux input dreams up in smoke - literally

Well I have a blitzsafe aux input adapter in my RTL. It is a piece of crap. The sound from it falls out and I have to take it apart and wiggle the connections inside for it to work. So, it has not worked worth a damn for months. I took it out today to work on it and since it is position sensitive, I have to do the work with the radio on to know when I hit the sweet spot and it works again. Like I said, a POS. Anyway I accidentally touched the back of the circuit board on to the radio chasis and POOF grey smoke coming out of the head unit. I assume a cap popped inside. Not sure. After that, the radio would not even recognize that the aux adapter unit was present. Thankfully everything else still works.

Does anyone know if there is an internal fuse or anything in the unit for the aux input? I assume I overvoltaged something, but I am kinda hesitant to just tear into the radio.

Thanks!

This is why you are to disconnect the battery before you deal with the vehicles electronics.
