Re: Iphone Adaptor

Ok lets try this again !!!

I have an iPhone and a new 2008 Ridge RTL w/aux input

The aux input is a female socket and the iPhone has a female socket where the head phones plug in.

Do I just buy a male to male adapter to join the iphone to the aux input ??

That is correct, just make sure it's a stereo plug (most are) not mono.

Unless one end of the cable is specifically designed to fit the recessed 1/8" headphone plug in the iPhone, you'll also need an adapter in addition to a 1/8" male-male cable.

Here's the adapter I use that works great...

Re: Iphone Adaptor

You can use Aux Mode or Direct mode. Direct mode gives you more capabilities, and since direct mode is line input levels, you have a single volume control via the head unit.

Aux mode will take the headphone jack of your iPhone, so you'll end up with two volume controls... one on your iPhone and the other on the head unit.

I installed both. I can play my iPod through either the iPod connector or, the Aux input which I installed in the bin beneath the radio unit. I can use the Aux input to play my Zune.
