There's TONS of info on here about this.
I have read many of the posts on this, maybe I missed something. When you say the OEM HU has +/- L/R only are you saying that it IS possible to tap a line input only that it won't have fade control? If so, this might be acceptable to some.

Re: auxillary input

I'm just telling you what the wiring diagram says. There's nothing about voltages, whether they're differential outputs, important things like that. The connector is proprietary so you'd have to bugger something up.

Re: auxillary input

Thanks for all the posts...even if I didn't get the answer I was hoping for. At least I saved my self the trouble of going in to find out for myself. Come on Honda...just give us the aux input jack!

Yeah, sold it a few months back. When I had it, I always used the direct controls. Until some one puts a touch wheel on the steering wheel, the apple UI will remain for me the easiest interface. I ripped my cd collection at 320 kbps, and my ears can't tell them apart from the originals. It's a shame USA spec doesn’t sell a stripped down cheaper model that forgoes the "control from HU" crap, and just has direct control.

I TOTALLY AGREE Bunk! After I sold my Element (aux in YES!) and began shopping for the next vehicle, I was disaponted with Honda's disregard for this convienient input in the Ridgeline!

Re: auxillary input

I'm having trouble finding specifically the specific Aux input on either the Crutchfield or USA Spec sites. Can someone give me a model number or specific link to find it? Thanks.

Also, is the IPOD and Aux input (RCA jack) all the same? I'm a bit confused on this as well...

Look at the diagram below. It services both the ipod and has RCA jacks for the aux input.

Re: auxillary input

After reading some posts on how easy it is to remove the dash panel, i decided to give it a try myself. It definitely was very easy to remove the dash panel. Even with my pudgy fingers, I was able to disconnect the dash controls. I then proceeded to remove the HU to find there is only the proprietary interface that Honda has so conveniently put there. So, in about 3 min., i put it all back together and now have to decide how to best spend my $$ to get my Sirius satellite hooked up. Oh, and there is no traditional antannae line going into the back of hte HU, only those pesky proprietary interfaces, so my $29.99 solution is out the window too.

Re: auxillary input

Thanks ephiphany and Dr. Decent, by the way, you both have great rock band names...My last question, is do the RCA inputs merge to become the Aux input jack? sorry, I'm going back to my 1980's stereo hook up's where two L/R output jacks went to two L/R input jacks.

It was much easier in the 70's and 80's when you ripped out your stereo, mounted a bracket, stuck a wire in the fuse box, and a ground wire somewhere. Then you hooked up the equalizer, promptly blew your speakers, got new speakers, repeat. No sub woofers, complex computers, etc. Just a gold Marantz equalizer with those bars going up and down rockin down the highway in the Trans Am...Might I digress.

Again thanks, this thread has been a great source of info. I do plan on doing this install.
