Considering Raytel Tell5000vi - Need Input...
Hello fellow ROC'ers. I have a 2008 Ridgeline RTL with Navigation and based on other threads in this great forum I am considering purchasing the Raytel Tell5000vi to integrate with my navigation and provide bluetooth capabilities for my iPhone.
My questions are: 1) What, if any, additional harnesses do I need to purchase to integrate easily with the existing navigation system and avoid any splicing/cutting, etc? 2) Will it work with the factory installed microphone integrated with the navigation or will I have to install another microphone? 3) Will the navigation buttons/touch screen provide any input to the bluetooth? 4) Best place to purchase? 5) Any feedback, comments, experiences, etc? Thank you. I look forward to any feedback. |

Re: Considering Raytel Tell5000vi - Need Input...
Well, I went ahead and contacted PAC-Audio today asking the same questions to their tech support and I got a prompt response that I have copied below. It answers some questions, but I wasn't too excited to hear about all the pieces to make it work. Will have to keep researching.
Let me know if you find out any new information! ***************************************** Here is a list of adaptors and harnesses required for Bluetooth video in your 08 Honda Ridgeline. VCI-HON1 video adaptor 68120 + 68825 plug and play harnesses Tell 5000 VI Blue tooth interface with video output. At this time there is no Nissan steering wheel adaptor for bluetooth Tell 5000 requires it’s own microphone. Please contact Raytell for phone compatibility http://tellphone.com/ Thank You. If it isn't too much trouble could you please let me know what would be required for the most efficient straightforward installation of this product into my vehichle? I am mostly referring to the necessary harnesses but feel free to expand. This vehichle is a lease without a rear backup camera however my wife has a 2008 Honda Oddysey EXL with Navigation and rearview camera so may eventually consider putting the product in her vehichle. The intended cellphones would be an Apple iPhone and a Samsung u740. Also, can the unit use the existing navigation microphone or do I need to use the microphone that comes with the Tell5000? Will the navigation touch screen or steering wheel controls interact with the product at all? Is the screen only viewable when the phone is in use? |

Re: Considering Raytel Tell5000vi - Need Input...
I am very interested in this solution. Has anyone had any luck installing? I would really like to have a solution that integrates with the standard nav system. I have done a ton of research, but it doesn't look like there have been any RL installs. Thanks in advance for any response.

Re: Considering Raytel Tell5000vi - Need Input...
I see how the video connects to the nav system, but I was wondering if someone got the system working in the RL. How difficult was the install? Based on my research...there is a video module and BT module...just wondering how they work together. Are the two modules connected via wires or is it wireless. I am trying to figure out how much of the truck I will need to take apart. Anyone have advice? Again, thanks in advance.

OK, call me a luddite! If you have to have all that stuff in your Ridge, then maybe you don't need a Ridge or any other vehicle for that matter. I don't mean to be rude, but this is a particluar sore point with me so go ahead and flame me. I have a "friend" who's whole existance is bragging about how he can synch his cell phone/MP3 Player/ whatever else with his in-car audio system. It's bad enough that people don't pay attention when driving and talk on their phones, but this guy drives and tries to synch up all this stuff at once. Hands free does not matter it's still a distraction. This guy is so bad he started taking the rubber mats out of all the cubby holes looking for the USB input in the RTL, and then told me I got ripped off because I don't have one like him! Then he complained that his blue tooth phone could not find my crappy Honda link (I don't have one but I let him waste time finding it)! We get an hour for lunch and if you ride with him in his Rav 4, he takes 10 minutes just to get all the electronic crap synched up, all the while driving fast and all over the road. His driving record and accidents bear out that he is a techno junkie who is more concerned about his toys thatn safety!
OK, I feel better now. Please fellow Ridge owners, enjoy driving the Ridge. Don't make it into a rolling game show. |

Re: Considering Raytel Tell5000vi - Need Input...
Jack,
I understand your distracted driver perspective, but this doesn't seem to be the appropriate thread. I am simply trying to find the most integrated hands-free solution. Personally, I would prefer not to bolt, glue, screw, etc. electronics or anything else for that matter to my RL. I do enjoy the RL and that exactly why I am looking for the cleanest option. The main driver to my question is that CA is implementing a hands-free law effective 7/1. Other ROC Members, Again, if you have had any luck installing the Tell5000vi I would love to hear your opinion. |
